They have shadows and lighting that interacts with the sun direction and sky color. They're integrated into BeamNG's default cloud layer, which is used on all maps, and use the same lighting function originally used on the 2D texture/normals.
Did this to the ocean in 0.24, the game engine can do alot if one tinkers here and there. Didnt effect the fps, only changed the ocean settings. On the volumetric clouds subject, well done, looks great and im glad someone implements modern graphical improvements. Imagine what volumetric fog (i think its available in Torque3d 4.0) would do for crisp Italy map mornings.
