There is this magical part of a car known as a "clutch" it disconnects the engine from the transmission which allows you to shift without having to slam it into gear, and if you rev match it will go into gear even smoother, in general most people can half decently rev match on a car they aren't very with, on especially on old cars don't just keep the gas pedal mashed down while you shift or you will damage the valvetrain from overrevving.
I have to agree. Liked the old one when u could shift without clutch, was nice when using a keyboard. Any way to edit it in text files? Or atleast drastically reduce clutch time between gears?
you can turn clutch assistant on in options > gameplay in the game. it's a checkbox, which is most likely unticked
I know that. The problem is we have to let go off the throttle for an eternity now when shifting if not the engine revs up. Before you could slam in the gear at full throttle without any clutch assist. Was much better the shifting was really quick. I will check if I can change it somehow... otherwise ill have to use dual clutch trans.
There's real manual transmissions that don't require the use of the clutch to shift, mostly seen in racing (such as the top three NASCAR series). It was nice not having to use the clutch to shift because you could properly simulate that, and sometimes if you messed up rev matching you would still break a gear. I guess I wish that there was a way to simulate that with certain transmissions only, for the sake of realism in racing Edit: Its a dog box gearbox that I'm talking about, I wish we could simulate those
If you turn off the clutch assist you can manually engage and disengage the clutch with shift, making shifting gears much faster (potentially)
lol read his post he made before the one you quoted. First he's annoyed that he can't shift w/o clutch and he gets told to turn clutch assist on. Then overreving is the issue and now you are telling him to turn the assist off. @Jajjaa you can tick an box for throttle assist right next to clutch assist aswell. The quickness of the shift is different on the type of gearbox used.
You can shift quickly with the clutch assist turned off and not have the revs go up, it just takes the massive effort of pushing the shift key.
Nice they fixed it in latest patch! "Shift times slightly decreased for manual transmissions, reduced gear spacing effect on shift times, increased shift times with low aggression" Also we can fix this further by editing the line: "transmissionShiftDelay":0.15, Put that to zero instead of 0.15 Still not fast like before, but using manual clutch now its fine.
I like powershifting, which is why the manualised automatic is my favourite gearbox type. Why have a clutch?
