The poor Sunburst has lost all of its curves in the update. It is now looking dull and boring. Old: New: Should the changes be reverted? Are you with me? If so, add OLD SUNBURST OR RIOT to your signature! Remember, OLD SUNBURST OR RIOT!!!
would it be that hard to get the 0.14 version from steam, rip the sunburst, and make the curvy version into a separate vehicle?
It is not hard if you are competent modder, but it takes time to rename meshes and materials so that it does not break with next update or something. Things you would need to rename are meshes, materials and all the parts, optional step would be to convert engine sounds to new format. It is kinda boring work, but with rename script to Blender and using mass renaming with notepad++ it would probably not take even full day. For me, new one is better, but I would not mind if someone creates stand alone vehicle of old Sunburst either, more variety can't be bad thing.
Indeed. It now looks far more like an ordinary Japanese compact from the late 00s, limiting the styling excesses to slight trunklid, beltline and fender curves and having the rear door handles in the C-pillar. The old 'Burst used to have a somewhat cartoonish vibe to it, and while the overly boxy shape somewhat maintains it, at least now it looks a bit more like it came from BeamNG and not Saints Row. BTW, another car I like more the way it is now is the Moonhawk. It went from a brick to a more sporty-looking car, nicely portraying the "60s midsize nameplate putting on airs" archetype.
Personally, I find the body changes more aesthetically pleasing. You must know that this is a video game, and you're rioting over something that's not that important.
My words exactly. If anything, they could have gone further: a more sensible trunklid and a new, properly-styled nose, maybe? Front bumper looks straight out of a TeamSterz toy...
While the bumper is alright, a flat trunklid is much-needed. Another thing the Sunburst needs is a more slanted C-Pillar without a handle. Look at cars like the 10th gen Corolla, 7th gen Civic, 8th gen Lancer - all have slanted pillars and handles in the door sheetmetal.
it would literally take about 5 minutes all the part names are the same, they didn't change the model name from "sunburst" to "sunburstnew" or anything same with materials
Agree, C-pillar in its current form is too steep. Doesn't really work with the low-profile third volume.
That's what I'm gonna do in the end. I didn't get the support I expected and I have a slight feeling that even support wouldn't have changed anything. I'm rioting on an internet forum without getting off my chair.
At first I thought it looked weird and the front and rear end seemed too narrow to me. But now that I'm looking at it longer I'm actually starting to like it.
Yes, but to make it standalone mod that does not break needs renaming to sunburst_old or something like that, surely if one wants to just replace new version it is 5 minute job, but to have old Sunburst as a mod so people can have old and new, that takes bit more work. With traffic tool for example it would be interesting to have new and old versions of vehicles, like you can see IRL, so definitely such mods would have lot of fans, also porting old bodypart mods to work with sunburst_old would be lot easier than reshaping models etc. However it would require that old version is made to mod with good quality that will work even if there are changes to game files and not to cause conflicts etc.
I very much support the movement to revert the changes on the Sunburst. This revolution is backed completely by my support as I agree with what the OP is trying to tell us.
Can't really tell it apart from the old one, it is modern vehicle and looks appropriately boring as such, also features some minor details that attempt to make it look like aggressive or something but that is overshadowed by modern blandness, like IRL versions too. It is not really fault of devs, it just is how those modern cars are, I think developers have quite well managed to make it blander if possible.
