A few ideas for expanding the ETK lineup

    Hello everyone! The other day I was thinking about how the ETK lineup could be expanded and I came up with two ideas!
    My first idea is that of a C-Segment Hatchback (or Compact, for our American friends ;)), as a Cherrier FCV competitor. The thing is though that the FCVs are FWD/AWD-transverse engined (and, along with the latest in electronic diff evolution, since they are 2020 models, they could also have a RWD Transfer Case, as all FWD/AWD-transverse engined cars of the BeamNG lore have) so the recipe for the C-Segment ETK Hatchback could be cooked in the traditional way of ''RWD/AWD-longitudinal engine''.
    The car could have all the engines we know and love in the 800-Series/K-Series (2-liter Turbocharged Inline-4 gas/diesel, 3-liter NA/Turbocharged Inline-6 gas/diesel - all with RWD or AWD options) but the lineup could also be expanded with two somewhat more down-to-earth 1.5 Turbocharged Inline-3 gas and diesel options, for bringing some horsepower competition to the Vivace/Tograc 110/110d, 150d/dQ and 160/160Q versions!

    And my second idea is about an all-new F-Segment Ultra-Luxury Limousine. This car could be called the ''S-Series'' (for continuing the long-dead project we all loved) and it has the opportunity to amaze us all with all the latest achievements in propulsion, safety, luxury, onboard technology and dynamic handling. Also, since BeamNG hasn't got V12s, it's a great opportunity for the V12 engine to enter in an imposing way! I've thought of the engine options and the names for the body lengths, so here they are!

    6-cylinder options
    S6t - S6Lt / S6tx - S6Ltx = 3-liter Turbocharged Mild-Hybrid Inline-6
    S6d - S6Ld / S6dx - S6Ldx = 3-liter Turbodiesel Mild-Hybrid Inline-6
    S6e - S6Le / S6ex - S6Lex = 3-liter Turbocharged Plug-in Hybrid Inline-6 (same overall horsepower as the S8t)

    8-cylinder options
    S8t - S8Lt / S8tx - S8Ltx = 4-liter Twin-Turbocharged Mild-Hybrid V8
    S8 ttSport / S8L ttSport = 4-liter Twin-Turbocharged Mild-Hybrid V8 with more power and AWD

    12-cylinder options
    S12Ltx = 7.5-liter Twin-Turbocharged Mild-Hybrid V12 with standard AWD
    S12L ttSport+ = 7.5-liter Twin-Turbocharged Mild-Hybrid V12 with more power and AWD

    Body length options
    - Standard
    - Lang (Long Wheelbase, for the rear passengers, of course)
    - Wagner (with even longer wheelbase and rear doors that don't curve over the rear arches)
    - Suite (the longest version, with even longer wheelbase than the Wagner, used for transporting EU heads, heads of state etc - this version could also have armored variants and the V12 could certainly be up to the task)!

    What is this list you posted? Who made it? From what I can see, it's about the size/body classification of the ETK models but I've never seen it again in the forums Imho! I just went based on the existing coding system of the K-Series (Kc4 and Kc6, with the number defining the cylinders and the following letters defining the aspiration system, the fuel type and the drivetrain). Simple as that.
    Can you tell me what's wrong? I honestly see nothing wrong with this coding system! :confused:

    It’s from me, and it’s a naming system of all ETK models if there were 2020 models. I much prefer everything being consistent, instead of having random models with letters, and random ones with numbers. The K series would turn into the 400 series for a redesign (since it’s from like 2008), the 800 is the 800, etc.

    Idk, the K-Series coding system seems much simpler and more meaningful than having all these confusing numbers! And what are the V12 versions gonna be named like? The 6-cylinder and the 8-cylinder versions are OK into the 40s (1046 and 1048, "40" for 4-door sedan) but the 12-cylinder ones naturally change a decade and go into the 50s because of the natural number hierarchy. The number "50", though, is for 5-door body styles, like the Wagon 85x, and, again, this is supposed to be a 4-door sedan.
    You can't name the 12-cylinder versions the "1042" either, since this would mean that they only have 2-cylinder engines. They would consequently be called the "1052", but then again, compared to the 854/856 Wagon models, this will mean that the "1052" has a Fullsize 5-door body style with a 2-cylinder engine (and neither of these is true, apart from the "Fullsize"). Doesn't make any sense (like at all), except if they're maybe gonna be called the "10412"! Idk, your system is more random/less consistent than mine as I can see! :confused:

    P.S.: The K-Series is from 2015 - 2018, not 2008!

    you are really over complicating this. Here is a document I wrote explaining how this all works.




    P_enta ETK 2021 model naming system.

    Models:

    100: Subcompact Citycar

    200: Subcompact Sedan

    300: Compact Sedan + Coupe

    400: Midsize Sedan + Coupe (Previously known as K-Series

    600: Midsize Coupe Sedan (Not related to 400)

    800: Midsize Wagon

    1000: Flagship Sedan (Previously known as S-Series)

    1100: Subcompact SUV

    1300: Compact SUV

    1400: Coupe version of 1300

    1500: Midsize SUV

    1600: Coupe version of 1500

    1700: Flagship SUV

    E10: V10 Supercar




    Naming System

    MMXYF

    Here is the diagram. MM is a placeholder for the model name, X is a place holder for how many drive wheels. Y is a place holder for the amount of cylinders. F is a placeholder for features, such as a comfort spec, or a turbocharger.

    Lets use the 1000 series as an example, and the trim 1048t. The naming here applies to all models.

    The MM signifies the model. On series with 4 digits, (1000, 1700, etc) its the first two characters, and on series with 3 digits, (600, E10, 300, etc) its the first character..

    For example, 1100 series starts as 11, E10 starts as E1, and 300 starts as 3.

    The X in the diagram stands for how many drive wheels.

    The y is a placeholder for how many cylinders, and the F is for features.

    Back to our example, lets add on to what we have. The combination of numbers vary’s on options and spec, there will be a master list of all combinations at the end of this doc.

    The 1100 series example would turn into 114, E10 would be E14, and 300 would be 32.

    The Y in the diagram stands for the amount of cylinders. There is an exception to this rule. V10 models use ‘R’, and V12 models use ‘S’. any other engines are just the number of cylinders.

    Back to our example cars.

    1100 series turns into 1148, E10 turns into E14R, and 300 turns into 326.

    The last character in the diagram, F, stands for multiple different things and has many different combinations. There is a master list at the end of this document.

    1100 turns into 1148sc, E10 turns into E14Rtt, 300 turns into 326t.

    Simple system.



    Here is one more example if youre confused.

    Lets say we want a Midsize SUV with a V8, 4wd, comfort spec, and offroad spec.

    We first take the model, 1500, and plug it into the MMXYF diagram. This gives us 15.

    Then we add on how many drive wheels we have, we want 4WD, so tack on a 4.

    Now we have 154. We want a V8 also, so add an 8 to get 1548.

    Theres also the offroad spec and comfort spec, so add a c and o to get 1548CO as our finished model name.

    Master diagram combinations

    MM - Model

    100 - 1
    200 - 2
    300 - 3
    400 - 4
    600 - 6
    800 - 8
    1000 - 10
    1100 - 11
    1300 - 13
    1500 - 15
    1600 - 16
    1700 - 17
    E10 - E1


    X - Drive wheels

    2 - RWD
    4- AWD




    Y - Amount of cylinders

    3 - inline 3 engine

    Well, personally, I don't like that the 800 series uses such a big number. For me, it should be the 300 series (more fitting with the BMW 3 series). For example, the 856 would become 356, meaning:
    3 = Model category;
    5 = Body Style (wagon, for example);
    6 = Engine (single turbo 6 cylinder).

    That way, a ETK 356 would be the ETK's version of the BMW 340i Touring.

    With that system, we could have the equivalents of all BMW series, being:

    *100 series = Compact Hatchback (130) and Sedan (140), also maybe a MPV/Wagon (150), equivalent to the BMW 1 series (and 2 series active tourer, for the MPV);
    *200 series = 100 series based Coupe (260) or Convertible (270), equivalent to the BMW 2 series;
    *300 Series = Midsize Sedan (340) or Wagon (350), equivalent to the BMW 3 series;
    *400 Series = 300 series based Coupe (360) or Convertible (370), equivalent to the BMW 4 series;
    *500 Series = Fullsize Sedan (540) or Wagon (550), equivalent to the BMW 5 series;
    *600 Series = 500 series based Coupe (660) or Convertible (670), equivalent to the BMW 6 series;
    *700 Series = Luxury Sedan (740), equivalent to the BMW 7 series. Comes Standard with air suspension;
    *800 Series = 700 series based Coupe (860) or Convertible (870), equivalent to the BMW 8 series. Comes Standard with air suspension;

    For the SUV's, we can simply add a number 1 on the series, for example:
    *1100 Series = 100 series based SUV, so it can use the number 5 to represent the body (since it would be shaped like a wagon), becoming the 1150 and being equivalent to the BMW X1;
    *1200 Series = "Coupe" version of the 1100 series, so it can use the number 6 to represent the body, becoming the 1260 and being equivalent to the BMW X2;
    *1300 Series = 300 series based SUV, so it can use the number 5 to represent the body (since it would be shaped like a wagon), becoming the 1350 and being equivalent to the BMW X3;
    *1400 Series = "Coupe" version of the 1300 series, so it can use the number 6 to represent the body, becoming the 1460 and being equivalent to the BMW X4;
    *1500 Series = 500 series based SUV, so it can use the number 5 to represent the body (since it would be shaped like a wagon), becoming the 1550 and being equivalent to the BMW X5;
    *1600 Series = "Coupe" version of the 1500 series, so it can use the number 6 to represent the body, becoming the 1560 and being equivalent to the BMW X6;
    *1700 Series = 700 series based SUV, so it can use the number 5 to represent the body (since it would be shaped like a wagon), becoming the 1750 and being equivalent to the BMW X7. Comes Standard with air suspension;

    The K-Series could stay the way it is, since it cold be something like a Z4 (and Z4 doesn't match with BMW's naming system anyways).

    For the Bodies, we could have:
    30 = Hatchback;
    40 = Sedan;
    50 = Wagon;
    60 = Coupe;
    70 = Convertible.

    For the Engines, we can have (I considered the power outputs only for the petrol engines, since I am more failiar with them);
    3 and 3d = 3 Cylinder (BMW 18i and 18d engines), with the 3d being it's diesel variant. Produces around 140 hp;
    4 and 4d = Standard 4 Cylinder (BMW 20i and 20d engines), with the 4d being the diesel variant. Produces around 190 hp;
    5 = High Output 4 Cylinder (BMW 30i engine). Produces around 260 hp;
    5d = Low output diesel 6 cylinder (BMW 30d engine);
    6 and 6d = Standard 6 Cylinder (BMW 40i and 40d engines), with the 6d beind the diesel variant. Produces around 390 hp;
    7d = High Output 6 Cylinder diesel (BMW 50d engine);
    8 = Standard V8 (BMW 50i engine). Produces around 530 hp;
    S = Twin turbo V12 (BMW 60i engine). I used S for the V12 to emphasize it's smoothness. Produces around 600 hp;
    4TT = High Performance 4 cylinder, offered on the 134TT, 144TT and 264TT. Produces around 400 hp;
    6TT = High Performance 6 cylinder, offered on the 346TT, 356TT, 466TT and 476TT. Produces around 490 hp;
    6TT+ = High Performance 6 cylinder, offered on the 346TT+, 356TT+, 1356TT+, 466TT+, 476TT+ and 1466TT+. Produces around 520 hp;
    8TT+ = High Performance V8, offered on the 548TT+, 558TT+, 1558TT+, 668TT+, 678TT+ and 1668TT+. Produces around 630 hp;
    STT+ = High Performance V12, offered on the 86STT+ and 87STT+. Produces around 630 hp;

    For the suffixes, I'd go with the P_enta's suggestions:

    x = All wheel drive, like BMW's Xdrive;
    TT Sport = Sport package like BMW's M-Sport;
    TT Sport+ = Sport package like BMW's M-Sport, but with AWD;
    TT = RWD High Performance variant (available from the 100 to the 300 series), like the BMWs M2 and M3;
    TT+ = AWD High Performance variant (available from the 300 to the 600 series and to the 800 series too), like the BMWs M3, M4, M5, M6 and M8 with M Xdrive;
    c = Comfort Package with softer springs, with the "xc" being the AWD variant;
    c+ = Comfort Package with air springs, with the "xc+" being the AWD variant (available only on the 500, 600, 1500 and 1600 series);
    e = Electric powertrain (its power will be determined by the "engine number" before it, so a 3e would have 190 hp, and so on), being the "xe" an AWD electric variant;
    h = Plug-In Hybrid version. Although, there won't be a 3h powertrain, since the number 3 engine will be on the 4h, the number 4 engine on the 5h and so on (only petrol engines available). As happens on electric versions, the power output is determined by the engine series;

    The 700 and 1700 series won't have TT+ variants, just TT Sport (only the 700) or TT Sport+ (both).

    All ETK cars have longitudinaly mounted engines and RWD or AWD drivetrains, but the 100, 200, 1100 and 1200 series can only have engines with up to 4 cylinders, since their small engine bays are too small to fit a inline 6 (I know that the new 1 and 2 series have tranversally mounted engines, but i'm not making ETK do the same mistake BMW did).

    This is a lore I developed to the ETK brand, so it can match BMW's lineup. It would work with Mercedes too, since both offer the same types os products.

    PS: Sorry for any miswriting, since English is not my first language and I wrote this with just my knowledge.

    Tbh, I tried to decode your naming systems and they still are a nightmare. They're much too complicated. Honestly, why not include all the needed info in just 4-5 characters? German cars (and BMWs in particular) are famous for condensing all the needed info in 4-5 characters!
    Besides, my coding system is 100% based on the existing lore and I didn't go on inventing some completely new codes (like a whole new list of models and the letters R and S, for the V10 and V12 engines) based on hypotheses about "how the names would be if there were 2020 models"!
    Sorry for sounding confused, my friend, but I'm receiving conflicting messages from you. You tell me that I overcomplicate the names but it's actually you the one who does this. And you do this based only on hypotheses and nothing else!

    Actually, I like your system more than P_enta's. You can call the series by the name of the segment too, for example, the C-Series would be a C-segment car. let's combine the systems, for example:

    My 100/200 series becomes the C series;
    My 300/400 series becomes the D series (maybe we could have a problem with Gavril);
    My 500/600 series becomes the E series;
    My 700/800 series becomes the F series (maybe we could have a problem with Ford);

    Or we can "borrow" the nameplates from Mercedes, just like you did with the S-series, so it could be:

    My 100/200 series becomes the A-series;
    My 300/400 series becomes the C-series;
    My 500/600 series becomes the E-series;
    My 700/800 series becomes the S-series.

    For the SUVs, we could add the letter G (Geländewagen, since ETK is a German manufacturer), so:
    My 1100/1200 series becomes the GA-series (like MB GLA class);
    My 1300/1400 series becomes the GC-series (like MB GLC class);
    My 1500/1600 series becomes the GE-series (like MB GLE class);
    My 1700 series becomes the GS-series (like MB GLS class).

    This thread is the right place for us to discuss our ideas.

    Also, I designed my naming system around the ETK 800.

    Well the purpose of my system is to be able to work with existing models and mods.

    The ETK 800, 300, 1300, 1700, and k series (400) already exist, so if we use my naming system all you need to do is add on new models.

    The 800 is a BeamNG original but the 1300 is a mod vehicle. As for the rest of them, are these their internal codenames given by the devs? I didn't even know of the "300" and the "1700", nor did I know that the K-Series is called the "400"! We learn something new every day! :)

    Hmmm... Hadn't thought of the conflicting D-Series and F-Series names tbh! Seems like both naming systems have their pros and cons!

    Adding the "G" letter to the off roaders makes sense, since it actually means something real!

    Also, I believe it is possible to edit the Lettering from the ETK 800 to fit our ideas. Although I don't know how to.
