Can your PC handle it? :p

One tab open will peg my 3770K (4.6 GHz) @ 100% CPU usage and will bring the whole PC to a screeching halt lol

Didn't think Youtube was capable of this yet. Anyway, good concept but isn't 4K good enough?

I actually was just browsing Youtube and saw that Dell had their 8K monitors now.

So I was wondering does YT even support 8K video?, Yup they do

so I was playing it and I was like wow its extremely choppy pulled up TM and I noticed 100% CPU usage.

I just found it interesting that one 8K video can peg a i7 100% across all cores.

So I let it buffer the rest of the video and boom no shutter.

There's a lot of pixels there. It's 8 times the amount of pixels than a 1080p video. We're dealing with exponential growth every time we up our resolutions these days.

    Maths:
    1920*1080= 2,073,600 pixels per second
4K= 8,294,400 pixels per second, 4 times as many as before
8K= 33,177,600 pixels per second, 4 times more than 4K, 16 times more than 1080p!

The difference is staggering. 8K video is so much data-heavier than 1080p is. All that data must be processed. The numbers speak for themselves, you would need to use ~16 times more computing power involved in rendering an 8K video than a 1080p video and that's just for one frame!

My example is probably horrifically out of context but I think it makes sense.

    Hint: Watch it in edge.

No seriously. Chrome doesnt hardware accelerate the web media player. Edge does. Dropped frames everywhere in chrome, seemless in edge

Difference being chrome will be using my 2600K, edge is happily using a GTX1070

Really Guess I'll have a go on that then. Not good enough I get corruptions everywhere.

Note that I am not aware of whether the GPU has to have certain decoders supported or not, like I think off top of head the NVidia GTX 600 series cards were the very first to support H264 decoding in hardware let alone other formats, I am not sure if Edge is leveraging off of that or if its just using like a directx backed decoder or something.

It also used about 75% of the video engine on my GTX1070, though this doesnt translate to an overall load of 75% thankfully..

Edge isn't using my GPU at all, stilling using the CPU and it's worse than chrome, it's basically a video of artifacting.

So I tried edge, CPU usage is down from pegged at 100% to hovering around 12-37%.

But.. on edge its a slideshow, chrome its more tolerable.
