Inspired by the Alfa Romeo Giulia, here's the Autobello Baionetta, an Italian styled Bastion with european engines. It was developed as a way for Bruckell to approach the European market with their sedan platform. Civetta was contracted to provide drive-trains for the top of the range models, a move that would help Civetta offset the development costs of the Scintilla. The car is based on the Bruckell Bastion. To cut costs it reuses the main structure, suspension, most of the drive-train, front lights and interior of the Bastion. Hood, doors and trunk cutouts are also kept although these fixtures won't be 100% interchange-able with the Bastion. Engines will include 2.0 Liter turbocharged gasoline and diesel (not yet started, will try to reuse engines from other base cars) as well as the Civetta Scintilla V10 in both N/A and biturbo configurations, albeit a bit de-tuned from the original versions due to stricter emissions and packaging limitations. Available brake options are a combination of Bastion and Scintilla brakes depending on trim level. All versions except the V10 one will be available in AWD as well. Final wheels are not decided on yet. I'll probably model a couple of sets, one per trim level. For now, I'm reusing the Scintilla wheels. The interior is planned to reuse the Bastion one with a custom steering wheel and custom seats for the top trim. Planned trim levels: Base 2.0L gasoline turbo and 2.0L diesel. Cherrier based probably. Mid-range V6, both gas and diesel, based on the Bastion engines but with reduced 3.0L displacement and turbos to compensate. Top of the range GTX version with a N/A V10. Homologation special GTXX with a twin turbo V10 and carbon ceramic brakes from the Scintilla, carbon bucket seats, deleted rear bench seat and a factory roll-cage. Alternative trim level structure: Base 2.0L gasoline turbo and 2.0L diesel. (same as previous) Mid-range 3.0 V6 based on the Scintilla one with a more pedestrian intake manifold. Top of the range GTX version with a twin turbo V6 derived from the Scintilla V10. Homologation special GTXX with the V10 and carbon ceramic brakes from the Scintilla, carbon bucket seats, deleted rear bench seat and a factory roll-cage. V10 twin turbo available as an aftermarket option on the GTXX, a... GTXXX if you will. I'm inclined to the alternate since it more closely matches the Giulia's trim level. I still need to look into how feasible cutting down the V10 mesh to a V6 without too much rework is. These are some WIP images of the modeling, all done in Blender:
Modeling for the front end is mostly done. The rear less so, it requires taillights, currently there's only a red outer shell there. This would be one configuration, I'd like to separate the base and GTX versions with different bumpers and side skirts.
I really like what you've dome so far, but this car makes no sense as an Autobello. Autobello is more fiat and mainly produces little cars. I think coming up with a unique new brand would fit better, as then the lore will make a bit more sense, and whilst I can't see Civetta working with Autobello, it would be much more plausible if it had a unique brand inspired by Alfa-Romeo. But it is as always up to you!
I decided to ignore the Alfa Romeo name and go for something humorous. Autobello sounds nice, cute even so I imagined that the Autobello higher ups wanted to build a luxury sports car but decided to (over) compensate with a ridiculous name like Baionetta which invokes aggression. The name also mirrors that of the IRL Bayonetta video game character and that's the link to sex appeal. The juxtaposition of these two seemingly opposed names also mirrors the construction of the vehicle itself, being an American large sedan chassis with a refined Italian engine. But overall I'm open to naming suggestions.
looks cool, always wanted a lore friendly giulia. just a suggestion though, could you make the more iconic alfa grille and the lights too? would look good imo. also will there be special editions e.g. estrema, tributo italiano? also with a name suggestion, you could make this an autobello sport division to be alfa romeo e.g. autobello corsa? autobello trofeo? whatever its called in-game.
The grille suggestion is a good one, thanks! I won't change the headlights, I really want to give the impression it's a cost cutting measure. Here's a preview of the V10, NA and turbo. The intakes need work, the N/A definitely needs an airbox higher up in the engine may. The turbo setup uses the standard Bastion intercooler, i'd like to see if I can fit twin intercoolers somehow.
More updates: V10 twin turbo got new twin intercooler setup with new intake piping. Ignore the emblem for now. The N/A version also has new ducts and a twin air filter housing: I'm also exploring more looks for the front bumpers. The dark areas could be black paint, exposed carbon or even intakes. Just a sketch atm: Also progress on the rear lights: --- Post updated --- Other more textual updates. Screenshots over the next few days, most likely after Easter with the next updates. 1. Currently considering using the Scintilla seats with different upholstery on the top of the line model. They seem to fit nicely, only requiring a base to mount them higher than in the Scintilla. 2. I did a quick mockup of the Vivace inline 4, it looks right at home in the Bastion's engine bay. I think I'll use those as the basis for the Baionetta's pedestrian versions.
Could make the car body lighter and more aerodynamic tbh. Anyways best of luck into getting it work! One question, will it have its own individual vehicle slot?
SHOOT IT WASNT CIRCLE fixed --- Post updated --- oh and special edition for like i dunno, heritage/anniversary
thats actually an amazing logo, was thinking that maybe it could also be that the grey part outside is colors of italy like the special edition logo and the inside is like bland with autobello logo, bit like actual alfa logo
