Now on the Repo! Thanks to @elimiel2 for taking up the project, the following is the original forum post. ---- 2021 Bruckell Flare / 2021 Bruckell Rustler More freedom eagles per cheeseburger Lore As part of their partnership with French automaker Cherrier, in 2021 Bruckell imported and rebadged Cherrier's Vivace hatchback and Tograc crossover to the US as the Flare and Rustler. This helped Cherrier nearly double worldwide production of their FCV platform, as well as neatly filling a fairly profitable hole in Bruckell's vehicle lineup. About The Mod This is a small, low-to-mid-quality mod. This is the first time I have touched BeamNG modding since about 2015, and I don't think this will ever be brought up to repo quality (at least not by me). This project basically spawned from a single idea, which was "What if Rayonner but opposite?" As someone who lives in the US, it seems that most of our car companies prefer importing their more commuter-oriented cars from their European counterparts anyways, so this seems like a natural evolution for the lore. Description The Bruckell Flare is a 5-door hatchback sold in the US from 2021-2023. It is sold in 3 trim levels that are comparable to trim levels on the Bastion: SE, Luxe, and Sport GT. In 2022, the Vivace E was also imported and, with minor changes, added to Bruckell's lineup as the Flare EV. The Bruckell Rustler is a crossover SUV. Due to its European styling and small (by American standards) size, the Rustler has earned an unfortunate but ultimately profitable reputation as a "soccer mom" car. It, like the Flare, is sold in SE and Luxe trims, but the Rustler also has a top-of-the-line option called the TrailSport. In true American crossover fashion, the TrailSport has little in the way of additional offroad capability beyond a raised suspension and upgraded wheels made by Folk Racing. What's Included? This mod contains Bruckell-badged replacements for most Cherrier-branded parts on the FCV, such as hoods, front bumpers, tailgates, and steering wheels. In addition, I summoned all the Blender capabilities I could muster and resized not one, not two, but three sets of Bruckell wheels from the Bastion. These can be used on any vehicle, as they are listed in the wheel selector as "17x7 Bruckell ____ Wheels." Installation Just drop "flare.zip" into your "mods" folder. If you're not sure where to find this, select "Manage user folder" in the BeamNG launcher and then "Open in Explorer." From there you should have a folder called "mods." If you have the Cherrier Émoussé mod installed, you can also drop "flaresedan.zip" into your mods folder. This WILL NOT add any more configs in the vehicle selector, but it includes a Bruckell-branded trunk for the sedan if you would like to create your own configs. Note There are many issues with this mod that I do not have the time or skills to fix. None of these affect the mod's functionality, but may be immersion-breaking if noticed. -The center screen will still briefly display a Cherrier logo if the vehicle is turned off and back on. This seems to be part of the screen's logic prescribed in an html file. -The wheel lugs do not match up with the wheel hub. This is a result of the rims being resized, but there is no way to fix this without actual 3d modeling which is beyond my abilities right now. -The Flare Sport GT wheels still contain a Cherrier logo. That logo is a part of the wheel texture, not separate like the badges on the hood and such. I may end up resizing the Bruckell sport wheels from the Bastion to fix this at some point.
It is a rebadge Inspired by many real-life examples of US automakers doing the same thing with European economy cars. (Alfa Romeo Tonale/Dodge Hornet, Daewoo Kalos/Chevrolet Aveo, and pretty much anything made by Opel) Just a fun little thing, not meant to be groundbreaking
Its a nice idea. I would've appreciated a little heads up or a message about this mod using the Emousse, however you've not done anything wrong. Just like to be updated about what people do with the mod haha. The Emousse does have some USDM headlights and taillights, the headlights work on the normal vivace but I'm not sure if the taillights do. There is a USDM cherrier mod on the repo which the Emousse uses stuff from, so maybe you could look into that and link that for configs if you wanted to do a bit more.
yeah but rebadges irl make sense cuz of brand affiniti n shit but like why are people going to play with a 1:1 vivace, some other rebadges at least have some different stuff, the rayoner is slightly reshaped, has a wagon and different engines, the diadem is also different shaped, rhd and with different engines, but this is just a vivace
While I understand you made this for fun, I think the Flare/Rustler could benefit from different styling. Take a look at the Alfa Romeo Tonale and the Dodge Hornet.
Apologies, I was a little hesitant to release the sedan trunk for that exact reason. This is also why I didn't put the USDM parts on this, as it's too small of a mod (in my opinion) to start bothering other people about it tbh I might just remove the second file, as it really only replaces the Cherrier badge on the trunk. Also, to everyone else, the description lists what's in the mod and the issues with it. If you don't think it's good enough, you don't have to download it. I have ZERO 3d modelling skills, so this is going to most likely remain in its current state. Editing textures in GIMP and creating whole-cloth new 3d bumpers/body panels from scratch are two wildly different skillsets. Some modders on here possess both, and they are very good at what they do. I do not, and I am not. This was simply a personal project to boost my own immersion, as IRL European commuter-class vehicles rarely make it to the US without a similar "badge-engineering" treatment. I apologize if anyone had higher expectations.
I definitely will, thank you! I just think sometimes people forget that a real human being had to put a good few days work in on this to even get it to this point. It's easy to ask for more when free, much higher-quality mods just 'fall out of the sky' so to speak, but I just ask people to remember that I am a real person doing this in my free time, not some abstract concept of "a mod developer." I will work on this at my own pace, and I do want to eventually learn the necessary 3d modelling skills. I'm just not sure when I'll find the time to do it, so I wanted to at least release what I have in case anyone else saw use/entertainment in it.
Don't feel hesitant lol. I don't really care what people do with it. As I said, I just like seeing what people do with the Emousse haha. You don't have to remove it if you don't want to. And people are free to make whatever they want. I still hardly have any blender knowledge, I can create new parts, map materials and that's kinda it, I'm still learning myself. I also make a lot of things for fun too, so don't worry too much.
It is a rebadge but it's still a good idea and it also makes sense given the history of French/European automobiles making their way to the US under a different brand name for sales. Nobody in my country would buy a Peugeot, or Citroen, but it being rebranded as a Dodge or Chevrolet they'd totally go for it.
