Hi. This is my first attempt at a mod, so it's pretty bad and I will need some help with it. I'm planning on creating an Indy 500 inspired Car to put into the game at some point. So far I have a basic model, but I have no experience in making mods, and barely any in any kind of programming, but I can use blender quite well. I was watching the Indy 500 this weekend and I thought the cars looked cool so I decided to try and model one, and maybe put it into Beam.NG because I wanted to do some Indy Car racing on an oval track in this game. This is what I have so far. I need some help to smooth out the car without destroying the look of the sidepods, as every time I try to smooth them they deform. Also, please don't hate if this never gets finished.
I don't exactly know what that means, but if it was the dots in the render then that was just noise, and won't be on the car when in the game.
Ok. Didn't know blender could do that... I hope this mod works out, because I'd love to pit this against Raider's creations
Maybe ask raider if you can use one of his mods to give you a head start, if not I'm sure I could lend a hand somehow
There is an an indianapolis 500 map but it's not in the mod section due to copyright, just search for in the bar near the top right.
Maybe ask raider if you can use this as a base or the fr16 due to the shape and size of your car https://www.beamng.com/resources/fr17.2258/
The "sparkles" are called Noise, and noise can be removed if you either dont use Cycles render, or you increase the sampling: Change it to something like 512 or 1080, something REALLY high. (but the time it will take to render will change ALOT) Also, send a screenshot of what happens when you smoothen the car.
In blender, use a subdivision surface modifier, and then add Edge loops with ctrl + r in edit mode to tighten up your edges you want kind of sharp and to retain the basic shapes you want to keep. You can only add edge loops in quads though, not tri's, so keep that in mind.
*gives creator a sushi boat* if this gets released i will rock out in Indy. Also, is that chevy or honda?? --- Post updated --- EDIT:2015 Honda
