I don't know if you know this, or can use this information, but Blender comes standard with an Open Streetmap importer plugin. It doesn't cover terrain data, but it does bring in some roads and a few building footprints/profiles, could be useful.
Very nice and very ambitious! There is something cool and unique feeling about real world terrains and I got that immediately from the screen you posted awhile back of this map. Wish I had an answer for the spawnpoint creation. I solved my issue with that by using an existing map. I imagine you've gone through all possible suspect files to see where it's written. I can put some thought into this annoying conundrum again. It has the same heartburn inducing misery as phantom duplicate materials.
Holy cow! This is a coincidence! I live in (well, just next to) 100 Mile House! It's town. This is exciting. I like driving in places I've been. ☻
1] select everything in map at once and move to height of spawn. OR 2] Go into the .MIS file and manually change there. Hope this is helpfull.
Hello again everyone! So the final vote seems to be the single version. I added 121 more generic houses, still, not done with the houses. Total of 301 generic houses so far. I also added a logged area/ meadow, hard to tell. Meadow can be used for rallies since it's a nice circuit.
Looks beautiful already, i can't wait to see the finished product and trust me it'll be worth the time. P.S what prompted you to recreate 100 mile house and not some other place? Was it it's size?
Good questions. I decided to recreate 100 mile house because I thought the town was small enough and I wanted to make a map based entirely off a real place. It was randomly picked on google maps, I just zoomed in in the center of BC. And the size? It's a 4kmX4km area (the size of 4 East Coast USAs combined). --- Post updated --- Alright guys, I need your opinions here. For the edges of the map, should I use blockers so you can't see/go outside the map, or should I leave it open to allow the most true-to-life recreation? Also, the spawn point is still problematic. I've tried the things that were previously suggest but I am still unable to get it to budge.
This looks fantastic. I love how you are using real world data to create a map; it will give it so much realism. I love the mix of open roads and fields, IMO every game that advertises an open world should have plenty of space to roam and do as you please.
I say you put some sort of blocker, such as a road block saying "closed road", rock slides, etc. Basically anything to block the road that would be realistic.
Idk about the blockers or not but for the spawn sphere did you try this? http://www.beamng.com/threads/spawn-sphere.21368/
YES! It worked. Thank you so much for the help. As a reward, would you like to be a beta tester after I get more progress?
