Hi there! I'm currently working on an 03-05 Grand Marquis front and rear swap for Maxie's Crown Vic. The idea is this is intended to be a parts swap as an addition to his current mod (with Maxie's permission of course if its okay with him). I'm currently putting together these parts: - Front Bumper - Header Panel and Grille - Headlights - Front Bumper - Rear Bumper - Trunks (or just the rear finish panels since the trunks themselves would be the same technically) - Taillights - (not currently made but) door, fender, and bumper moldings, marquis specific I've made some progress of my own currently but this is a major WIP at the moment. I am also limited on my Blender abilities so this mod will probably take some time to make. With that being said, i am open to help from other's who are better at modeling than me, whether its physical help with the mod or even just tips, anything is appreciated, i just wanted to get the ball rolling on this as I've seen it requested many times by others as well as myself occasionally and I'm sure some people have more important things going on than making this so it's understandable why it hasn't yet haha At this moment all that's been done progress wise is sizing and fitment for the most part. Marquis parts are borrowed from another existing model so I'm currently just cutting things up and adjusting them to fit. Haven't gotten much into the detailing and cleaning up of the parts models yet. I haven't gotten as far as anything with texturing, pbr, or jbeam yet either obviously, that'll come with time I'm sure. The fit and finish is still a little rough and some of the main panels need lots of cleaning up as they themselves are still kind of rough. I'll share a few photos here of my current progress as i continue on. Here's what I've got done so far: Any and all feedback, critiques, or help is much appreciated. Again, my knowledge is limited so I'm kind of just making it as i figure it out. I'd love for it to be a higher quality parts mod though as the car its going on its a super nice quality, so i don't plan on giving it an early drop with bad quality. I hope you stick around for updates on progress though! Thanks!
Yeah i'm still figuring that out. The model i borrowed parts from seemed a little dated but looked like a good enough base to take parts from. Gotta adjust shading and a lot of the edges and curves on the panels are wonky too lol. Lots of adjusting to do haha
About time someone made this. The Marquis really doesn't get much love, and, interestingly, there are a few Grand Marquis parts in the Crown Vic as is, being the interior door panels. I think there might be a couple others too when I was making some configs a while ago.
I actually own both an 02 P71 Vic (that I daily) and an 03 Grand Marquis (that I have setup as a purpose built drift car) so playing with Maxie’s Vic in beam really made me wish we had the marquis parts as well. I mean he already added the 03-05 marker lights, might as well have the rest right? Haha. I pretty much solely started learning blender just to make this so I’m hoping it’ll turn out good. If all goes well with the 03-05 parts I may consider also adding the 06-11 parts. But 03-05 looks best in my opinion anyways haha
Nobody I know ever had one, but I've always loved the car over the Crown Vic. (don't know why, might be the grille or badging)
I have of of these turds could you add the digital gauges and a ultimate edition? im excited for this thanks for making it!
hubcaps? like the 99 mercury chrome wire spoke hubcaps or the 03 mercury chrome spoke centercaps.net/products/mercury-grand-marquis-1998-2002-hubcap-00189 - 99 mercury cap #FD17037C | Mercury Grand Marquis | 2003-2006 | 16'' | OEM | Chrome - Factory Hubcaps | Wheel Covers | Center Caps | Rims - 03 mercury cap
i don't think i'm gonna get that deep into this at the moment as my modeling skills aren't the best at the moment lol, mainly just doing a body panel swap with an existing model more or less. besides hubcaps themselves i know the marquis shares a few wheels with its crown vic brother, just uses a different center cap, so maybe if i do anything i might make marquis center caps for the existing wheels. just depends how far i get in this lol.
I'm mainly just planning on doing the exterior panels at the moment as I'm just using an existing model and transferring parts over. Not sure if i'll get that in depth as my modeling skills arent the best at the moment, just working with what i have. If i could find someone with better modeling experience to assist, then maybe lol. Like i said this is still a major wip so who knows what I'll do. I'm glad to be attempting this though, i know its been pretty requested for maxie's vic. --- Post updated --- Marauder is a possibility as it uses this same front end (besides a slightly different front bumper) and uses a crown vic rear end for the most part. A town car probably isn't in the cards at the moment. Those do share a chassis but those also have their own body, the marquis and the vic are the only ones that share a body.
Omg this is perfect you do not understand how many cars i have seen IRL of cars copying the crown vic model(kind of)
Update: Great news! We now have permission from Maxie to make the parts for his Crown Vic. I also may have a couple of people to assist in getting this mod made so if all goes well you’ll see some progress made soon! More details to come soon!
