“Select edge/face” blender error

Hi,
In blender when i use the bisect tool it comes up with a “select edge/face” error. The bisect tool worked for about half an hour before i left my computer for half an hour (didnt turn off or go out of window) then it just poped up with the error when i try to use it. Its really annoying because i need to use it for something im working on for beamng. Any help would be appriciated.

EDIT reinstalling blender doesnt work

 

Isn't Bisect the same thing as the Knife tool?

 

It does the same thing but it takes longer than bisect.
