Alpha Unicera Luna (Moonshine Runner Car from 1925) 1.0

This is a lore based build but is also pretty fun to play infection or a police chase with.

    The Lore Fictional

The year was 1925 prohibition was in full swing, therefore all over America backwoods distillers rose to the call to supply speakeasy's with illegal liquor known as Moonshine. Naturally, the US government did not find this to their amusement and hired G-Men to reign in these new tax evading backwoods distillerys. But how could they find them? In transit of course, Johnny law would line the countryside roads awaiting the transport vehicles to pass by then try to detain them. As this went on and entire stocks of White Lightnin’, Panther’s Breath, Ridgers Rock, and White Dog were lost to the G-Men the Shiners needed an answer. History states Ford had the largest turnout of runner cars taking moonshine all over the country with modified Flathead V8’s pushing sometimes 155 HP. This gave the lawmen a run for their money and soon other vehicles were used, including Unicera. Unicera being the enterprising manufacturer it was decides to make a vehicle indiscreetly named Luna which as we all know is Latin for Moon. Shiners picked up on this naming scheme and took the hint, soon the Unicera Luna was at the forefront of the Moonshine Runners game. Though, the Luna normally came with a sedan type interior it was purpose built to be stripped and modified. Quickly a Luna could be bored, stroked and four-barreled in days. And while most auto manufacturers of the time focused on stock comfort Unicera focused on weight capacity and off-road capability for their stock suspension. With their famous inline 6 at the helm running seemingly impossible numbers for the time, Unicera runners saw financial stability in wavering times.

This vehicle was owned and ran by Tomlin McGregor a second generation Irishmen born in America and trained to be a mechanic, but desired most to be a racer. From the year 1925 all the way up to the Great Depression in 1929 Tomlin ran moonshine all across the eastern United States from the Carolina’s to New York and all the way down to Florida in this very car. Each year increasing the horsepower and decreasing the weight as much as possible. The interior was stripped to the base frame and the seats removed. In the passengers seat remains a box, containing a Saturday night special and a map. Tomlin never wished to use either as his instincts were far more in tune than johnny-law had the capacity for, but they were there just in case. Due to the longevity of his travels and the need to stop as little as possible two new fuel tanks were added to the trunk to give the thirsty IL6 the fuel it needed for the long-haul. Also in the back were four cisterns each housing the White Lightnin’, Panther’s Breath, Ridgers Rock, and White Dog with easy quick fill modifications to streamline delivery. Though four years and hundreds of delivery's supplying all the thirsty folks with shine, lawmen could never catch Tomlin and to this day they never have.

Although Tomlin’s racing days are well behind him the car lives on in pristine condition due to his efforts. But even with this story you may wonder why Unicera is not well known as a runner car for this time.. And that is because, you cannot make a report on what you cannot catch. Better luck next time Johnny-law...
