Beta Stelvio Pass 1.0

Alpine Mountain

  1. matjazt
Passo Stelvio is a pass located in Italy, I tried to make it real but some things are a bit off… I've spent around 500 hours in this project. Now is time to release it.

    Performance:
The main goal was that this map runs good on my own pc that is 3 years old now with specs:
    i7 7700K, 16gb ram, geforce 1060 3gb - running avg 55fps @ 2560x1440
    Tested also on:
    i7 4700k, 16gb ram, geforce 970Ti "4"gb - running at 60fps @ 2560x1440
    Ryzen 5 3600, 16gb, geforce 2070 6gb - running at 75fps+ @ 2560x1440

    Know design problems:
    • Elevation data for the road is not perfect - the best data was from a cyclist
    • The road is a bit too narrow at some points
    Known technical problems:
    • Mountains - terrain just cut off at the edge of map
    • Patches of wrong groundmodel texture scattered around
    • Road textures incorrect priority order
    • No LOD models
    • Cable car disappearing at some angles
    • Roads with area beside the main road are of lower finish quality
    • size of file
    • AI is not perfect - so have fun with it…
    Credits:
Andrej - many building models / testing
Beamng team for the game and used assets
DoullPepper - a lot of textures and wind sounds
    Car_Killer - updated to 0.26 + PBR

It's just a conversion of the mod map from assetto corsa you have to add the credits of the original developers of the maps

This is the best map in Beamng, no doubts! It represents the real passo stelvio perfectly. It’s a 1:1 map and that makes it so good. The roads and surrounding locations are very detailed. It almost looks like reallife.
Furthermore, since it’s the passo stelvio it has very challenging roads which only makes the map even more better.
However, at some point the map feels quite small even though it really isn’t but in a 1:1 map you often lose track to the distance you’ve just driven because it takes longer to get from A to B so could you please expand the map via the SS38? I’d love you for that. Keep it up!
    Best map EVER:D

This is my favourite mod map, very well done, and the experience of going up the mountain and seeing the landscape change is awesome.

I never thought that accelerating, hairpin, accelerating, hairpin .... could be so much fun. Add to this a little loop on the backside, the skiing slope including a giant slalom and another path to the very top, I must say: superb, thank you!

It's a very well done map! But one thing I noticed is that those barriers got No Texture. Please fix it!

It's all nice and calm cruising until your car drives off the road. 11/10 would play again.
