Speed Island 2.51

High Speed figure 8 and rally course

  1. SvenCheddar
This is a high speed figure 8 track set on an Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

    Map features:
-A high speed figure 8, rally course, monster truck and derby arena and drag strip. The drag strip has a working starting light with its own sequence timer.
-The main track is surrounded by small towns, logistic centers and a city.
-The traffic lights and cross walks all should still work
-AI traffic should stop for the traffic lights and stop signs
-The map has automatic lights for day and night time driving
-The figure 8 has a time trial setup which for now is only 1 lap
-Pit road has a refueling box. If you drive close to the fuel pumps you will be refueled.

    Enjoy!

Very very interesting. I'd watch a lot more Nascar if the track looped around like that for real. The ground level roads are all best experienced with a rally car even though a lot of them are paved. My FPS drops from 60 to 30 every other time I turn around.

Thank you for the feedback. I am starting to think the big mountain 4k texture may be causing some of this fps loss. I am going to see if I can work out some of those issues soon perhaps add some LODs to optimize the scene.

Sick map! A few floating objects/no mesh objects here and there, but the map itself is a kick ass concept. Looking forward to future updates

hello, are you still seeing no mesh on 2.10? And floating objects? I cannot seem to locate those for the life of me. I spend hours yesterday and cannot find them. Any ideas?

Hey, man, I like this map. If that guy doesn't get back to you soon, I don't mind helping you find bugs on the map.

Thanks he did actually and I just released a new update. I hope to have solved most of the issues by now but let me know if you see anything once you are on 2.10

    It's a very fun map, well put-together.

    The only downsides for me are;

-there are some floating objects and some missing meshes, and some nearly-empty areas of the map. (no big deal, really)

-some areas absolutely tank my framerate from ~55 down into the teens.
    (BIG deal)

All in all I think it's got some serious potential, but it needs a little work yet.

Hello, Thank you for the feedback.
I am aware there may be 1 or 2 floating meshes but it has really been hard to find every problem myself. I need testers really.
Alot of spots are empty as it was supposed to just be a race track and I was afraid with more props race fps would suffer.
Could you tell me where you are seeing missing meshes? Do you mean collision issues or just visual issues?
Also which spots tank fps? Do you see frame rate drops during the day or just at night?
I may need to remove some lights as those seem to be very resource intensive .
