Right car, Right time

Photon Automotive began its life in the mid-70s, spending its early years developing its first production vehicle. The result was the Photon Plasma [K12]. Launched in 1981 it set the bar for what consumers wanted. A car that was fun and fuel efficient. Its high success made for long waiting lines that the factory was struggling to meet. The increased profits meant that the following year it could make its motorsport debut, on the global rally stage. Right from its introduction into the newly formed Group Bee, it dominated its first year, taking the constructors and driver titles. Throughout its life, it won countless awards and trophies praising it for its fun demeanour, timeless design and low running costs. The FWD R4 Evolution was made to homologate its Group Bee counterpart, with a limited run of 500 production units. It was based on the R4 with additions of cosmetic changes and a re-tuned inline 4 engine.
