For some reason, I ended up making a paper boat while not working on more important things.
For another unknow reason, my mind thought it was a good idea to make a paper boat in BeamNG...
Like any other sane person(is this really a thing or just a hoax?), I did not have a discussion with my inner half and started making a paper boat in a game...(yes, really).
I fully knew that my first attempt was going to explode if I was stupid enough to make it ingame. So I did and so it did.
Because of this, I was extremely demotivated and made the model bigger and made a bigger jbeam for it. Being the absolute dumbass I am, I even tried to give it a realistic(not really) weight.
And of course, on the first try nothing exploded. Huh what? Everything should explode on the first try??!!.
Okay, on the first try, against all odds, the boat did not explode. It had 10 nodes, each with a nodeweight of 10 gram.
Having made the lightest-non-exploding-thing in Beam, I gave myself a bigger challenge: Make it move and let it float.
To make it move, I added two nodes for the steering thrusters and called it a day. Controls are: Y(forward), G(left) and H(right).
Then I tried to make it float.
That did not work. It went kaboomski or full-spasm mode, or some combination of these two. Because of this, I asked Synsol to take a look at it and together we deemed it impossible or too hard to make.
Maybe some other dev can help with this. It might be impossible but it could also be possible but you only know that it is possible if it is possible right? yes
As a compensation for this defeat, I made the paper boat skinable.
I hope you can appreciate it, I will update this if I or some dev finds a way to make it float.
