Alpha Nordschleife Island - Caribbean Hell 0.1

Life's a beach

Based on first reviews, it doesn't approach enough the Nordschleife. As I'm didn't had a recent official version of it recently in a game (my previous most recent racing game was Forza 2...) I admit I wouldn't know much. Hard to compare with videos. So if any of you would like to suggest a model (for which I can ask authorization) I could use to make a better Norsdchleife, please do so in the mod thread https://www.beamng.com/threads/alpha-nordschleife-island-caribbean-hell.60555/. I might end up making a poll to sort out suggestions. Thanks !

I made this terrain to test different smoothing solution to achieve a smooth track with terrain resolution being 1.953125 meter per square.

It's alpha because I'm still seeking how to improve smoothing and because the terrain is almost naked. I have added some trees, marshall towers and stuff for it to feel less lonely but I haven't put much effort into this.

    You get :
    • The 20.789 Km decal roads Nordschleife track with rubber trajectory
    • That's it.

    I'm sure I'll improve it :
    - one time after having found the best smoothing solution for the tracks
    - and I'll dress it more after I'll have completed the main course : my Nurburg Area map (https://www.beamng.com/threads/nurburg-area-the-orange-hell.59074/).

It's posted because I'm having so much fun on it that I guess I wanted you to join while I smooth things out.

This map also has (it should, potatoes owners please confirm in the mod thread) the advantage of being much lighter than my next release, Nurburg Area.

Pretty good version, but it's like the whole circuit was stretched, corners are wider and the straights are longer (for example, the two chicanes after the long straight are much closer IRL)

it's Nordschleife on a carribean island, what is there to complain about?

and shame you couldn't get access to a laser scanned 3D model of the track, cause I'd definitely imagine that'd be expensive to get the rights to.

Pretty harsh reviews so far. I like it a lot for what it wants to be. I mean that this mod isnt laserscanned is pretty obvious. But considering the biggest names in the racing genre didnt have any laserscanning a few years ago who really expects any different from a single modder?
It isnt perfect but since its a little goodie for the community before your big project comes out its pretty darn good. Something that could be done is a few more individual objects around the track for better orientation. I know the layout of the nordschleife quite well but felt a bit lost at certain parts. Also for stuff like braking and turning points or a bit better speed sensation. Either way IMHO the best Nords we have for Beamng so far. That Simbim conversion which floats around for years has a lot of problems in its own right.

So Thank you very much for that nice little sneak peak because i am eagerly waiting for the Orange hell.

Thanks for the kind words !
But I needed to know if this is more or less accurate. Being naked in a strange environment can't help but obviously I would like to make a better one, for the big mod and for this one. I'll dress it more but I'd rather find a track model that would be more precise first. Do you have any suggestion ?

    Fun track:
To be honest i can't see the replication of that track either but so what? its great on its own! it's smooth and frames are great for my crappy PC so thank you! call it your own thing if you want, good work!

That's the issue with this mod : I'm far from being a Nordschleife expert.
I just like the track. I directly used the enlarged track 3D model from a mod for Rfactor for smoothing the terrain and drawing the decal roads.
Can't call that my own ;). But I might end up changing the name. A Nordschleife 3d model you 'd like to recommend ?

Try Driving on the Nordschleife yourself in another game, you’ll find your mod needs work.

Thanks for the review. Unfortunately I don't have any with the Nordschleife in it. Could you suggest a model from an other game I might want to use in the mod thread ?

The corners are not accurate, some straights are to long some to short... nice try, but only the rough shape of the Nordschleife

I used a model I found easily, I'd be happy to use a more precise one if you can suggest one in the mod thread. Thanks for the review.
