NOMI Performance Valved Exhaust Series for the Hirochi CCF 1.2

Throatier, raspier, rowdier sounds for everyone's favorite sports car

I was never particularly satisfied with the exhaust note of the 2.3L flat 4 in the CCF, so I decided to make a mod that uses different exhaust and engine sound blends and fundamental cylinder counts to create a sound reminiscent of the exhaust note of 2nd gen BRZ/GR86. The result is a slightly raspier, throatier, and more satisfying sound profile than the stock exhaust (plus some small crackles here and there). In the first update, I have added two flavors (touring and track) for the 2.5L flat 6, included some fun new configs and gave them some associated lore to explain the existence of the configs and exhaust models. Overkill? Probably, but it was kind of fun coming up with the storyline.
This mod requires Theo Wilkinson's Hirochi CCF to be installed, and was created with their permission.

    Lore
NOMI Performance Development for the Hirochi CCF
In early 2021, about a year after the first CCF hit showroom floors, Hirochi Automotive conducted a survey of their existing customer base, inquiring about owners' likes and dislikes regarding their new CCFs. While many customers were over the moon with their purchases, a common trend seemed to emerge from the other responses. It seemed owners of S-trim CCFs praised their good looks and design, but criticized the inclusion of invasive ADAS hardware and muted exhaust note, claiming ADAS detracts from a "pure" driving experience and wished for a bit more volume. Conversely, a considerable portion of base-model owners said they enjoyed the handling characteristcs of their vehicles, but wished that a more aggressive styling package was available at the time of purchase.

Interested of maintaining their dominance in the affordable 2-door sports car market, project managers from Hirochi reached out to NOMI Tuning, a well-established company in the Hirochi modification scene. Their proposal was as follows: For the 2022 and onward model years, Hirochi and NOMI would join forces as NOMI Performance Development, and a new trim level of the CCF would become available. The CCF NPD models would focus on performance, style, and driving experience: Starting with the 2.3L 4-cylinder S-trim model as a base, Hirochi would remove the ADAS, and all infotainment would be relocated to the instrument cluster, as the center screen would be removed for weight and driver engagement. S-trim brakes, suspension, and intake components would be retained, and lightweight alloy wheels and chassis braces would replace the heavy cast pieces on the non-NPD counterparts. For the first time, a factory hard-top option would also be available. Finally, NOMI would provide their Performance Touring Exhaust for a punchy sound profile and reduced weight from its T304 stainless construction, as well as perform final suspension and vehicle dynamics calibration. The end result would be the CCF 220-4 NPD.

For the 260-6 NPD model, the design philosophy remained much the same - Reduce distractions, then add style, performance, and lightness. The NPD 2.5L 6-cylinder model would see improved struts and brake hardware pulled in from the limited-run RS trim, as well as a NOMI Performance Touring Exhaust specifically redesigned for the 6-cylinder models, again providing enhanced flow for more power, and a new sound profile to owners.

As a tribute to their collaboration, NOMI Performance Development would also produce an extremely limited run of "track-ready" models, based on the 260-6 NPD trim. With only 5 ever produced and only for one model year, these highly coveted CCFs came standard with a vented hood and fenders, NOMI cooling system, adjustable coilovers, half-cage, Rotopad 6-piston brakes, and 100TW Grip-All track tires. The NPD Track-Ready CCF also comes with a one-off NOMI Performance Track Exhaust constructed entirely of titanium, high flow catalytic converters for higher flow, and an X-pipe designed to craft a unique sound some say is more akin to a V12 than a flat 6.

As a result of removing and repurposing a large number of parts, Hirochi was able to price the NPD models under that of the existing S-trim CCF models that they were based on. The new line was a smashing success, and allowed for buyers to choose between technology and comfort with the S trim, or experience, performance, and affordability with the HPD trim, all without compromising on looks.

Future plans: I'd like to add some custom 3D models for an NPD badge in the future and maybe a new exhaust 3D model as well. Unfortunately, I lack the required knowledge of Jbeam and 3D modeling for use in BeamNG to make that a reality right now. If someone wants to help with that or has resources that can teach me, let me know.

Much better than the default sounds! Could you make this compatible with the Procyon Vela mod at all?

Thanks - And yeah, I was planning on looking into that soon. They won't be separate per-engine since the jbeam specifies them as "ccf_exhaust" but I can add some distinction in the name.

Well done! Solid improvement to the sound, nice description and lore, and a great comparison video.

Thanks! I might look at adding a different exhaust model in the future, although I've never done any work with Blender before.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i do not believe you asked permission from me to modify the CCF. It is stated on the page to ask before starting to make a mod for mine.
(I do not want this mod reviewbombed like that centauri mod was without finn's direction :( )
