Mizuchi, since 1996, has been a strong contender in the Japanese automotive industry for many reasons. Known for their quirky styling, a focus on reducing weight rather than increasing power, and great build quality, Mizuchi has built some of the best modern cars to come out of Japan.



The company's most recent generation of their highly-praised Keiryo sports car - their first carbon fibre production car - was put into production in 2016 alongside the Suzume kei car. The use of carbon fibre put this car into another league of sports cars, with a Lotus Elise S1-like weight of 795kg.



The 1001cc flat-4 engine climbs all the way to 10,000RPM, and whilst 139 horsepower may not seem like much at all by modern standards, this Mizuchi still packs a punch. The size and position of this powerplant give the car a great centre of gravity and excellent weight distribution as well.



There is nothing more important for a sports car than driving experience. Luckily, with a low weight, fine-tuned suspension and manual transmission, the Keiryo Sport delivers this to the high standard expected from Mizuchi. Additionally, its carbon ceramic brakes provide excellent stopping power.



Despite the extensive use of exotic materials, the Mizuchi Keiryo Sport is priced at a highly competitive 6.8m Yen (£45,500). For such a car that delivers an experience beyond all expectations on the road, this kind of money is an absolute bargain.
