This map is a sequel to "Cavern Dome" and has taken me over 600 hours to create. Development began in February and the map is now almost complete.

This map was developed and tested on an RTX 3080, a Ryzen 7 5700X 8-core processor, and 32GB of RAM. Due to its resource-intensive nature, it may demand significant performance capabilities, so high-end hardware is highly recommended.

As a side note, extensive effort has gone into using LUA Triggers throughout the map to fully implement particle effects and lighting. If you notice that particle effects aren't active when freecamming to certain areas, it's likely because your vehicle hasn't triggered the LUA code.

This map features two Timetrials, which can be accessed by unpacking the mod. It also contains two main easter eggs, along with several smaller ones hidden throughout. Additionally, there are multiple secret cave entrances to discover.

Please use the "Hirochi Sunburst (Off Road DCT)" to traverse the chasms, as the jumps were designed and tested with this vehicle.
But... as it should go without saying, use whatever vehicle you want and have fun ;)

The map is still in beta, so some issues may persist. Please report any bugs you encounter in the comments section. Here are the known issues:

    Error/Issues List:
    • s_rocks_desert_huge_sheet_2GREY.dae - Invisible collisions are present when transformed.
    • Numerous bushes are improperly placed and not oriented correctly.
    • Lava waterblocks have incorrect density; vehicles do not sink as expected.
    • Some portals are misaligned within zones or on their own.
    • Lava heat haze causes white flickering from certain angles due to wave magnitude settings.
    • The terrain mesh in some areas hasn't been smoothed out, resulting in jagged edges.
    • Console errors suggest missing terrain textures.
    • Lua triggers for particle effects and point lights are not positioned where the player is, and do not reset until the player enters and leaves the area.
    • Some chasm jumps are too difficult for players to complete safely.
    • Since the map is a remix of JRI's terrain, some ground models haven’t been updated, causing vehicles to sink in areas where mud exists, though it should be hard ground.
    • s_rocks_desert_huge_sheet_2GREY.dae may not be positioned correctly, causing the low-poly side to poke into view.
    • River lava drag is too high in some areas and isn't connected to the lava pits.
    • Time trial scenarios don't appear unless the Gameplay folder is placed before the Mods folder.
    • Dirt road flows, when set to "over objects," are too wide and overlap incorrectly, stretching over rocks and other terrain objects.
    • Point light orientation is incorrect, causing odd shadows when the player passes by.
    • Mesh roads aren't wide enough, allowing players to see under the map.
    • Mesh roads are temporary and will be replaced with a .dae file.
    • Mesh roads use the default ground model of asphalt, which cannot be changed. As a result, there are no dirt effects, and the road sounds like pavement.
    • Terrain paint in certain areas looks jagged and odd; custom terrain textures are needed for the map.
    • Lava road textures are not visible from certain distances.
    • Instances of Vine_Wall_Wide_A.Dae are floating above the ocean near lava pits, likely due to outdated information from JRI in the Missiongroup folder.
    • FPS drops occur in certain areas.

I remembered how much I loved Cavern Dome randomly and went to redownload it. I was shocked to see another map, and this one looks and feels even better.

I adore these maps, it really reminds me of Hot Wheels Highway 35, especially since this one has a lava segment reminding me of Leg 1. Running this on wheel is a blast, as exhausting as it is. As someone that spends so much of my time on Beam messing with AI, this is a great excuse to actually give my wheel a try.

Thank you for making this, and I can't wait for more.

I did a first impressions video on my YT channel TerryMartinART. It is one of the best volcano/lava maps I have seen. I give a really honest first impression and leave a tip for how to help melt the car with ground model. And provide a link for that ground model if you decide to use it. I see you used some cleaver LUA triggers to break parts, ignite, ect... pretty nice! I know how to add sounds to those triggers. It may have had some I may not hear too well. I did hear all the custom sounds. Really top notch! Could almost feel its power. I did try to fix one of the bugs I saw, but was not able., And I give a tip on decal over mesh objects. It looks as if it took a long time to create. A lot of thought went into its design and artwork. Used the vehicle you suggested, and it worked great! Look forward to future projects you come up with!

      Hello Terry.
      Thanks for reviewing the map.
I watched your video and used your settings and will add them to the next update in the coming weeks.
I left a comment on your videos so I'll just paste it here aswell.

When you adjusted the lava road decal to be set over objects, the vertex count exceeded uint16, causing the lava road to sink into infinity. Every time you moved the road, the same error occurred repeatedly... The over object function is indeed a "A major pain in the ass".

I didn’t tweak the fade distance of the lava decals too much, as I was concerned about performance, and figured the player wouldn’t likely notice it anyway. However, I did implement it, and it turned out looking good.

I had planned to add the melt groundmodel effect later, but the river over the lava made that unnecessary. I've applied your lava groundmodel settings, and they work well in tandem with the river roads, thanks for sharing them.

I want to thank you again for the lava textures you shared in your other videos. They really inspired me to create and finish this map.

      Best regards,
      J.P.

Über awesome! Fantastic job. This is so going to be part of our next LAN Party.
    Lighting, atmosphere, drama!

Works well with a variety of vehicles IMHO. Absolutely brilliant job. You should go work for the BeamNG Devs. Prepare to move to Germany.

      Awesome review.
I would love to learn from the pros, If I had the knowledge an insider scoop of how they made this game I could truly unleash some wild stuff. You could also say the tools and knowledge are already present for this game, you just have to make it happen, and making it happen takes time.

Germany sound awesome, guess I need my passport ;)

    I really enjoy this map!
Sure does not have the best textures but the mapper has managed to make that meaningless. The atmosphere and the driving experience is superb!

I did put my car into a wall more often than i would like to admit but that is due to the lack of my own skill. The map is very readable and on jumps there are speed markers to tell you how fast you need to go.

    Good job mapper!

Thank you for the kind words and criticism. I hope to update the dirt tracks later in the next update and provide quality of life features like bridges for leisurely driving through the map with any vehicle.

Thank you! The caves were a big part of why I got into making this map.
Sounds effects have been my forte for years so it would have been a disservices to not add them. I feel like I could have done better with the dirt tracks but I'll go over that bridge in another update.
