Take the D-Series on the railroad tracks with these special adapters! It’s made for the heavy duty, extended cab, short bed variant of the D-Series and it comes with a configuration as such.
A hi-rail, also known as a road-rail vehicle, is any vehicle that can drive on the road and convert to train tracks, in this case it’s for track surveying and maintenance.
This is my first mod, and as someone who’s never coded json or lua in this context (or coded that much at all), it was really difficult to put together! If there’s any experienced modders reading this, I would love suggestions on how I can make this run better.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1: Go to a railroad crossing and roughly align with the tracks in the direction you want to go.
2: Line up the rear wheels with the track and lower them down all the way.
3: Steer to align the front wheels with the track then lower them down all the way.
4: Put the transfer case into H4/ 4 wheel drive high.
Now you’re ready to roll! You may have to nodegrab to get it aligned perfectly but it’s possible without nodegrabbing. If you see one of your front tires clipping into the rail, simply steer a little while you’re in motion and it should reset.
I tested this on the map River Highway, Gridtrain, Maseukowice train station, and Los Injurus, however it didn’t seem to like Gridtrain very well because of the wheel placement. If you’d like a map to drive this around on, you can check them out below:

Extra info: It’s modeled to fit standard gauge (1435 mm) rails, which is compatible with the maps I listed, although there may be other gauges that I haven’t tested. Hi Rail equipment is under the Front Bumper accessory tab, Rear Bumper trim tab, and the Dashboard Accessory tab.
