FIERO GT64 (FORD GT40) 1.0

60s Le Mans Race Car inpired by Ford

  1. DHD
I may have watched a certain movie starring Matt Damon and got inspired to make a certain car in Automation.
It's not perfect but aside from the body, I think it's the overall nicest version on here, as of time of uploading.

The outside looks are what I would call "ok" with an incorrect body shape, details inspired by different model years of the original and some glaring issues that I haven't bothered fixing. Like the rear bumper bar that's included in the body geometry and interacts with fixtures in an ugly way.

I've spent most of my time making it drive decent and on the interior that you see while driving.

Most of the interior is animated. I haven't got around to making a functioning H-pattern stick or radiator fan so the fan light is just there to be there and the gear stick doesn't move at all. High beams, ignition and indicators all have dedicated lights and not counting indicators, everything is controlled with the switches on the dash. Gauges are all functioning even if temps don't really do much other than go up when you start the car and some of the others are approximated by stealing data from other functions in the car.

It's set up soft to be controllable at lower speeds, so you need to feed it into corners and really play with the throttle to get both the front and rear to bite. Which is how I've come to understand that the original car drives as well. The gears are also super long since this car is mostly meant to hit 200+ MPH and not much else. It has a 5th gear but it's mostly overdrive unless you're going for ultimate purity and keeping it under 6000 RPM. (which the driving is tuned for)
The tyres are also very grippy for being period correct but that's a fault I'm willing to accept.

There are some known issues with fixtures losing their position after an impact (big bumps do it too) as well as general jiggliness during driving but I've realistically spent more time on this than I should so it's going to stay like it is for now.

It's also using nothing but vanilla fixtures and a vanilla body so if you're a mod purist you can still enjoy it.
