Duke Defiant Hoonicorn 0.9

1985 Duke Defiant given the Hoonicorn treatment.

    Backstory:

The 1985 Duke Defiant is a fictional production car in my Automation campaign. The top of the line SS weighed 3240lbs and was powered by a 240hp 5.0L OHV V8 with 4BBL carb giving the car a modest quarter-mile time of 14.5 seconds, dusting the 1985 Mustang GT with ease by a second.

    About this version:

This modified version is basically a 2019 from the frame up. The old steel monocoque is replaced with a light steel tube frame. The original 1985 steel body's contours were recreated entirely in carbon fiber. Wheels, trim, and stripped race interior are among some other features treated with carbon, subtracting 400lbs from the production weight.

The 5.0 of yester-year is replaced by a custom Twin-Turbo GDI 5.0 built by the lunatics at Demon Energy Drink motorsports division. It is possessed by 854 hellish horses and sends this dark energy through all 4 wheels with a 6-speed sequential box, breathing fire and brimstone from the cut headers peeking out from the hood.

    Performance:

Designed for Gymkhana style driving, random clutch-kicks, and general hooning. Generous on-demand torque gets you sideways, with tons of power to keep it going. Can just about hit 200mph on a good straight with adequate control. Braking is horrible right now, I'll work on this. There's no ABS and I'd like to keep it that way, but the bias is goofy right now and the fronts lock up too early giving her sad snap understeer even with gentle braking during my tests.

    0-60: 1.77sec
    1/4 mile: 8.67sec
    180-0: 7sec
(if you don't lock up.. be gentle or slide to your DOOM!;))
