Custom Bodyworks 1.4.1c

Bring more materials to the vanilla parts. Also vanilla+ parts, custom parts, widebody, aerodynamics

  1. wlkmanist
    Custom Bodyworks mod by wlkmanist.

    0.33.X compatible.

You understand what's going on here if you're reading this. (Read "coupe" description if not). My goal and my style is still the same. But we are starting from scratch. This part of this mod is on early stage, so please (!) let me know if something is not working properly (contacts at the end of mod description).

As always I recommend "Advanced Internals" mod for full experience.

    Notes:
    - Don't wait Carbon Fiber main body parts soon... We need to wait some more time for visual fixes of this vehicle.
    - Race Interior analog gauges have working odometer (vanilla have not) and increased needle max limits to 390KMpH/11kRPM/3.0Bar, but with vanilla textures (needle just goes to higher) and calibrated more presice compare to vanilla one. ...Other gauges are mostly tuned the same principie, not limiting the needle to the latest texture value, but limit exists.
    - Adjustable Headlights shine pretty much like vanilla ones (forward, but height is different like vanilla headlights, by default). You can tweak manually Servo Height, Beam Height and some other variables. Changing servo height does not affect resulting beam height (difference is close to invisible, I do that for more tuning comfort), but headlight height affects beam brightness (like in real life).
    - Engine Bay Override: Accessable via "Auxiliary debug features" checkbox enabled since [1.4.1c]. No duplicated main parts, no base game files overwriting, should be compatible with mods that using vanilla engine bay flexbody. It may be compatible even with custom flexbodies if mod authors add one more jbeam part to be compatible with this mod (see For Modders section). What it does? It just makes original flexbody invisible and at the same time adds another one that you choose. As this is an experimental feature there is some expected issue: it stops working after any transparency been added to your vehicle (mouse cursor over parts selector, some debug features), but there is an easy fix: reset your vehicle by any possible way, in example by pressing R key.

At the end of mod description there is a link on my Discord server with some screenshots and other dev stuff.

This mod works fine with "coupe" vehicle even on 0.32.
Please use "Coupe Modified" mod on 0.32+. Other solutions also should work, but not as good as this.

Thanks to all who used this mod, tested it, reported issues. Thanks for making reviews, for suggestions, for any support. This was just an experimental mod for personal use and my first repo mod. Then I ported vanilla stuff and make another experimental things.

There is a lot of people downloaded it, so that means community needs content like this. Thats why I will continue making stuff like this.

And my personal thanks to the BeamNG team for amazing simulator, for modding docs, for friendly forum community and... for the 200BX.

    Versioning notes:
Use 1.0.2 or lower with 0.31 BeamNG to access all functionals.
Use 1.0.2 or lower with 0.32+ BeamNG if you use copy of vanilla coupe.zip.
Use 1.0.3 or higher with 0.32+ BeamNG with "Coupe Modified" mod.

    0.31.X compatible. Long Term compatible.
This mod adds 200BX body panel parts and much more. All parts are calculated based on vanilla values (and also real life material tests for CF, aluminium and fiberglass).
So all parts work (probably) as if the BeamNG devs did it. Even a part cost values are calculated.
Just try to destroy this parts different ways. Also composite materials can break in parts.
If you found something not enough realistic, please compare it to the vanilla parts with similar materials first, then let me know if it really differs.

I tried to do a mod which would be stockalike, lore friendly, realistic, not cheaty, compatible with everything, even with campaign. And I used as much as possible vanilla assets.

If you like this mod, I also recommend "Advanced Internals" mod for full experience. At least try it once.

    Skins:
    - Two-Color Gradient
    - Side Stripes x2

    Note:
    - Doors, Hood and Trunk are openable and its opening forces also calculated. Latch parametres (and other auxiliary things) are untouched (Latches should be metallic), only main construction materials are changed.
    - Adjustable Low Headlights shine as it should (forward, but height is different like vanilla headlights, by default). You can tweak manually Servo Height and Beam Height. Changing servo height does not affect resulting beam height (difference is close to invisible, I do that for more comfort), but height affects beam brightness (like in real life). Brightness for LED headlights is the same with any height.
    - Headlight caps and intake are the one peace with front bumper.
    - Headlight intake also slightly changes intake sounds.
    - Exhausts also affects backfire and slightly changes exhust sound.
    - Strut Bars and headlight intakes inspired by real life S13 aftermarket parts.
    - Parts that are made like a piece of another parts have the same physics material as the root part (ex. front fender caps are the same as the front fender, rear fender caps are always metallic, headlight caps are plastic (nylon probably), small lip spoiler is metallic... etc). Other parts are real. I just make this things like other parts made in vanilla (maybe because of performance... etc).
    - Extended Lip Spoilers are have node mesh and aerodynamics (vanilla Small Lip don't have it).
    - CHMSL caps are only for custom trunks (at least for now)
    - LED Headlights using vanilla model that not duplicated, so it may be updated by BeamNG devs.
    - Aerodynamic parts (spoilers, splitters, lips, canards...) have proper aerodynamics, like similiar parts have in other vehicles (for ported parts), or vanilla-like aero for custom parts. Make sure to tweak properly your suspension while using aggressive aerodynamics (like Nomi GTRX parts).
    - Interior fuelcell can't be used as additional fuel tank because of how vanilla 200BX engine jbeam made. Only one fuel source allowed. Thats why used fueltank slot instead of rear seat slot. (Changed since 1.0.3 update).
    - Since 0.9.9 update this mod also have "additional modification" part. And since 0.10.0 update this mod supports "Additional Modification Extra Slots" mod (by @ned228).
    - Body mounted spoilers are compatible with most trunk spoilers, but I am not recommend to combine it with trunk big wings (sometimes aerodynamics will be partially from one of the big wings, check collision triangles).
    - Bash bars are compatible with vanilla front bumpers and probably with most modded front bumpers.
    - Roll Cages, like always, have proper configuration: proper mass, weight distribution and break model.
    - Added Racing Parts Color slot to Additional Modification (It uses common skins for racing parts like Gauge Covers, Race Interior Equipment, Window Nets, Race shifters... etc). Supports modded skins and modded parts. Skin namings are slightly wrong for 200BX, can't fix that.
    - I am going to slow down the developing of my mods, or even stop, just because I need some money to live and I can't spend hundreds of hours anymore for free. Sorry for that. You can always support me to speed up this process and I'll be back sooner. (No major updates if you see this)

    - Descriptions and button/toggle namings are available ingame, but idk how and where it works.
    - Both LMB and MMB works on main dash buttons for every button (4) with Tuned Interactive Interior equipped.
    - For Race Interior Equipment parts mostly only LMB functionals are mapped.
    - Ignition buttons/toggles are working close to irl, you can't start the engine without ignition enabled, and so on.
    - I can't map these buttons with exact features that button icons shows us. I can't rewrite a big amount of vanilla lua code and/or vanilla jbeams to support this features more properly (with more logic).

Mapping ....................... [LMB/...................... MMB] (for Tuned Interactive Interior):
Headlight button: ......... [Toggle headlights/ Flash highbeam]
Lights button: ............... [Fog lights/............. Underglow]
Hazard button: ............. [Hazard lights/....... Two Step toggle]
Backlight heater btn: .... [Differential mode/ ESC mode]

    Known issues:
    - N2O bottle(s) are clipping with the Trunk Fuel Tank. Only visual effect.
(Vanilla N2O node mesh does not match its prop location after the last 200BX body update. This is not my issue. But it is fixed with "Coupe Modified" mod).

If you found something, even minior issue, please let me know.

Dear modders, if you make some common stuff (exhausts, rear lights, wheels, bumpers and addons to it, interior parts, ...etc), make sure to choose common enough slotType names if it possible technically, and also technicaly simple or even modular jbeam structure. It is not cool to just dublicating things (for you and for anyone else). Also uncommon slotType's and uncommon parts positions makes mod cross support irrational. Here in the BeamNG we can make ingame content together like a puzzle and make this game and community better.

So, you can make parts for my documented slotType's, or make your own parts with this slotType's. If you use my non-documented slotType's just credit me. Also pm me after your mod release, I will add your mod to the "Supported mods" list if it works well.

Feel free to ask me about mod cross support.

Before the bx got updated it was a banger. But now only the hoods show up ,any fix?

      Author's Response
There is a separate description for old and new bx. This mod adds more parts than just the hoods for the new bx, but part count may be less than for the old bx. A lot of stuff planned, but I have no free time right now. I am trying to keep up to date my mods as I can, and it works without any issues as I can see. Of course I will add more content, but not now. Totally no free time, no pc and other real life difficulties, sorry.

Absolutely phenomenal. This mod adds almost anything you can think of to the 200bx, and I've spent about 4 hours just customizing a drift car with these add-ons.

Thank you for review! A lot of things are planned and not added yet. "Almost anything" because I have more mods for 200BX. Try also Advanced Internals mod. More updates later.

Amazing back so far, epic when combined with the Advanced Internals and wheel pack. My only gripe is that i often cannot tell which parts are added from the mod. Could use some sort of identification like a star or a tag. But that is only my personal opinion

Yep, I already think about it. Thanks for a review. More updates soon. And I will add separate mod with configs. Stay tuned.

I am not sure, what it is. May be it is my old non released experiment stuff. I don't remember, sorry.
