Born in 1976, the Turbo Sportscar Championship brought along a high level of turbocharged excitement. The 1994 rules were a minimum weight of 900 kilograms, a maximum engine capacity of 3 litres and, at most, 100 litres of fuel per tank to indirectly limit boost, since there was only one fuel stop allowed per 200 mile race.

Carbon Racing, a team formed specifically for the TSC, was one of the first competitors in the series, winning an impressive 5 championships over 18 years of racing. Their last overall victory came with the M94, considered to be the greatest TSC racer of all time.

In 1994, a new approach to their 3.0L formula was taken: instead of going with a V8 or V10 engine as they had done previously, Carbon Racing used a V12 powerplant. Despite only 21 PSI of boost, the engine still managed to put out 740 horsepower at a staggering RPM of 11,000. The extra economy meant that it could be driven harder and faster for longer.

Meanwhile, by using a lot of carbon fibre, the M94 managed to get closer to the minimum weight limit than any other TSC car ever (just 3.8kg over 900kg). This, combined with the V12's lower weight than its competitors and plenty of downforce, made it agile in the corners as well as fast, negating the power loss compared to other teams.

The group of talented drivers who were able to tame this beast, as well as everyone else who worked on the car, helped Carbon Racing rise to the top once more. The M94's maximum speed was estimated to be about 240mph, but nobody has ever been brave enough to test this theory.
