this a good mod and i didnt expect for it to be on RR's '65 mustang and i wish the sound would be a little bit more realistic sounding

sounds good but still kinda broken, cant complain tho its a good mod now after some updates (pls add customizable cams)
-
Author's Response
Ok! Custom cams on the way!

- 5/5,
Still the easiest and most convenient way to add power to an engine. What it lacks in authenticity it makes up in fun!

Thank you.

Have fun in your cammed 200bx!

- 5/5,
Pretty cool concept, could do with better sounds tho(possibly an option that only overrides the idle sound as well?)
-
Author's Response
I could, but have not figured out how yet.

- 3/5,
Is kind of an empty promise as it doesn't really add anything new other than another Nitrous Oxyde System that's been renamed and got unrealistic as hell performance boosts, but ehh, I guess it's cool
-
Author's Response
It's not nos.
-
-
Author's Response
It doesn't add as much power as before.

- 4/5,
Loved the mod until the recent update, as now all engines I use the camshafts on sound like weird v8s- perhaps the sounds can be toggleable in some way?
-
Author's Response
Yes, but file editing is required and the next update will give you the option to have cams without custom sounds. Have fun!

- 5/5,
Beamng has nothing to support cams, so this is good effort, although the tune part seems to add more power than the cam? either way effort is there and is executed well

- 5/5,
I've tested with the preversion, but I guess they are the same.
This mod has come a long way and is now really great. Now there are sounds and different options for camshafts and accompaning engine tuning. With engine tuning you can increase the power of your engine by factor 2 approximately, so no need for engine swaps anymore.
But be careful not to overdo it because the additional torque may cause engine issues. Make sure you chose also correct engine block, mounts and radioators for it.
Big thanks to JoshJoseModding for this work!
I wish I could undo my earlier lower ratings ....-
Author's Response
Thanks Leo, no need. You helped the mod get this far and I'd like to say thanks.

Author's Response
Thank you! I really needed that.

- 2/5,
With asmuch respect as i can, this mod would be more well received if it was trying to be different ignition timing or "intake porting" or something related to the valve size rather than a cam, that way you could get around not changing the idol, or the sounds
It do be adding power though-
Author's Response
I guess I'll try to put together some custom sounds that make it chop for the next update.

- 2/5,
I´m really torn because the added power is fun, but the camshaft mod is just wrong.
So I´d give it 5 stars as a random power adder, 1 star as a camshaft mod
It´s wrong but please don´t change! Why it is wrong as "camshaft mod":
What would you expect from a mod that changes the camshaft?
A) idle rpm would be higher
B1) power would increase on high revs (10 - max. 20%), decrease a little on low revs
B2) power increase not so much on engines that are already powerful and sophisticated
C) Fuel consumption would be higher
D) Sounds would be different
E1) Would work on all cars that have camshafts
E2) and not on cars that don´t have them (rotary)
check:
A) fail - idle rpm same
B1) fail - power increase is just fantasy numbers that are way way way too high. Even the most skillful tuner won´t promise you more than 10% especially if only just the camshaft is changed. In this mod the gain on stage 1 alone is 30-40% which is totally unrealistic
B2) fail - even the Scintilla Autobahn has an increase from 802 to 1111 hp
C) okay - a little more fuel consumption
D) fail
E1) fail - does not work on Bolide 320 GTR group 5 or on Signia Rally for instance
E2) fail
Sum-up: mod doesn´t have an eye on all these necessary details and so deserves only one star. But it is great and convenient as an easy power adder.
Maybe rename the mod to "Engine tuning stage 1 to 4" so it at least makes some sense. Then make a real camshaft mod with only up to 20% power gains.-
Author's Response
Let me make a nicer reply as my other one was pretty rude. The problem is that BeamNG does not really have the variables to account for everything you'd like to see here. EX: Them not working on rotary engines only, the best I can suggest is don't put it on an engine you don't want it on.

- 3/5,
Doesn't have a real choppy lope sound, the idle rpm just moves around and doesn't really give it a sound difference. The power increase from the camshafts also only go up to 6k, which kinda sucks.
-
Author's Response
You can't do that kind of idle without custom sounds, which I sad this mod has none of. Second, if you had read the update info, you would have seen that I just put out an update for the RPM problem.
-
Leo Zieger
- 1/5,
Good idea, but bad execution: only works until 6000 rpm, then the curve is the normal curve again. And it also gives rotary engines a camshaft (!).
-
Author's Response
Ok, I'll fix the rpm problem in an update. But for the second problem, just don't put it on an engine if you don't want it.
