bvPlayground 1.2

Dirt Races, Huge Jumps, Drift Courses, Drag Strip, Suburbia Races, Carkour, AI Endurance Races

    Version 1.0

A large playground packed with dirt, mud, and asphalt courses, jumps, loops, carkour, and more. Nearly every jump has a landing that can be done without harming the vehicle, and nearly every lap course has a Joker lap. There is plenty of exploration and challenge for hours of entertainment, and almost entirely AI supported for traffic, races, and more.

I have used this online using BeamMP with friends for a lot of good times, and figured I would finally share it since I don't think I will be returning to editing it anytime soon. If something major is broken with the mod please let me know and I will address it.

This only uses West Coast USA assets, and is very dense in terms of content. The fog has been pulled in to compensate and provide a relatively lag-free experience nearly everywhere while also being able to see the obstacles in front of you.

Nearly every course supports AI, and the AI is always restricted to that course. The default starting area has a large endurance course with 3 routes that provides a nice racing experience with some real upsets late game. I recommend starting with a suite of basic vehicles to start and progress from there. Also fun for online racing with friends with no resets.

The only other spawn point I have created is on a dirt track where I first started creating this map. This is a wonderful dirt sprint track that you can rip in your sunburst for laps, and even get in some sneaky passes if you are lucky.

There is a full suburban island great for street races with some nice sharp corners and long straights. The height shift really follows the west coast vibe and is also filled with hidden jumps.

A long drag strip with a massive jump at the end, including a points system for distance. Tons of fun with the rocket bus as you can overshoot the final platform.

River races for new water faring vehicles (or electric if you are a bottom dweller).

And swamp races for those snorkels.

A challenging yet fair Carkour course. I recommend the default Gavril D as many obstacles require that wheel base. You can also cheat, but hey, that's on you. Checkpoints are marked with checkered markings on the ground if you feel like you need resets.

There are drift courses on the ground:

    And one up a mountain:

    A section for Gymkhana events:

And another for going up or down the mountain through a crazy loop course:

There is tons more to discover, I haven't even mentioned the no-engine mountain race, the downhill mudslide, the dirt endurance track (with shortcuts), or the many other courses available.

    Happy smashing,
    -Bob

I admire the work you've put into this map, it's got potential, but could you please fix the texture, shadows, and overall the "feeling of environment" issues?

Very nice so far! I would recommend making time trial conversions for all the scenarios, as well as maybe some more gymkahana, road course, and rally time trials.

For some reason, the map's thumbnail is of West Coast USA. Could you fix that? I had to reinstall and even unpack the mod, but it didn't fix. Also, I second other reviewers regarding the brightness level. I see you're using Sun instead of Sunsky, so you can't change the Exposure level (decrease it to make the shadows stand out), but it's ok. I wish the default brightness level was 4.0 and the render distance in the LevelInfo was changed from 1000 to 5000 or smth like that.

I will get the image fixed up (first time uploading something and didn't know how to change it at the time). Thanks a lot for the tip on the Sun vs Sunsky, I'll get that adjusted as well and increase the view distance again (my poor PC).

Amazing! I would just remove most of the fog, and increase the brightness of the lighting :)

Thanks for the review (and playing my map with Camodo)! I clearly need to watch your tutorials, I have pretty bad frame rates with the view distance as... expanded... as you set it. Wish the Forest object had better LOD controls, my blender skills are trash.

Looking at the pictures, this map looks incredible. But when I loaded into the map, there was no ground and the roads had no material on them and it was basically empty and looked like a bunch of floating objects randomly placed. Any idea what could cause this?

Can confirm I had a similar issue testing the download from the resource hub. I'll attempt a re-upload.

    Kinda laggy, but awesome.

The pond in the middle of the cul-de-sac is kinda weird, though.

I appreciate the review! It lags a bit for me too (hence the fog) on an i9 and 3080, mayhap someone more skilled than I can give me a trick or two to help with culling.

Re: The pond... I was running out of ideas and getting sick of aligning buildings. Think of it as city juice!
