GENERAL INFO
M50 and M52 engines have been made having as a reference a stock 325i E36.
Here are the real life combinations for those who don't know
- M50B25 engines use the Getrag 250G gearbox with a 3.15 final drive as stock.
- M50B20 engines use the Getrag 250G gearbox with a 3.45 final drive as stock.
- M52B28, M52B25 and the S52B32US engines use the ZF S5-31 gearbox with a 2.93 final drive as stock.
- M52B20 engine uses the ZF S5-31 gearbox with a 3.45 final drive as stock.
- S50 engines use the Getrag 420G with a 3.15 final drive as stock.
- S54 engine uses the Getrag 420G with a 3.23 final drive as stock.
- M54B30 engine uses the ZF S5-39 or ZF S6-37 gearbox with a 2.93 final drive as stock.
- M54B25 engine uses the Getrag 250G gearbox with a 3.15 final drive as stock.
TUNING
M52 and S52B32US engines can be modified with the M50 Intake Manifold, which reduces low end torque but increases horsepower at the high RPM range.
All engines have a RPM Limiter slot inside the ECU slot that allows the engine to have a higher redline.
M50 and M52 engines can be tuned with a stroker kit.
M50B25 engines can also be upgraded with a turbocharger.
S52B32 can also be modified with a centrifugal supercharger, at 6PSI (0.4bar) makes 345hp and 400Nm.
Both M54B25 and M54B30 engines can be upgraded with a remap, which is located inside the ECU slot, adds about 20hp and improves throttle response, as a general rule.
M54B30 can also be upgraded with a supercharger that produces about 300hp.
You can also reduce the engine inertia a bit for faster revving up with the 6-pad racing clutch.
Exhaust sound can be modified changing the exhaust to the custom one, has catalyc converters and resonators deleted combined with a sport muffler with bigger exhaust tips.
