    Modding Background
So for years I’ve been Modding. In April of last year I released my first serious mod and I’ve been slowly progressing it (B.P Performance Parts). I consider the jbeam portion of my modding phase 1. I’m currently in Phase 2 and here’s a look at what I’ve done. I’m open to feedback and criticism!

BarNone Performance (fka B.P Performance) is an elevation in quality and performance from your typical shop. After years of tuning and fabrication you now have a completely unique experience. Based in Maryland, USA, BarNone Performance takes cars to places they would never see. We do ALL tuning in house, we develop parts in house, and we work with a network of different Shops to provide the best parts not only for ourself, but for our collogues. Our goal with every car we work on is to push the platform to a new high. We are not in competition, we do not run from challenges, we do not say no. Setting the bar on the moon is what we strive for with EVERY PROJECT. There is no ceiling as far as we can see and the moon is closer than you think. This is a complete overhaul of what even we think is possible and i thank you for being a part of it! We have a very simple saying here at BarNone Performance and we live by it daily; IN BOOST WE TRUST.

    Parts Breakdown

This French compact car has been around for a long time now. In its factory configuration, it's a bit underwhelming, but it has potential. Potential to be the face of any project you can imagine, but only with the right support. “If only it had...”, “If only it could...”, “If only there was more support...”. The "if only" stops here. Welcome to Bar None Performance.

To understand why I chose this car to spearhead the brand, you have to look beyond the obvious. The Charier Vivace is a sub-3500 lb compact car with an optional AWD Dual Clutch Transmission and an optional i5. Sounds like a street, track, and drag strip monster to me, but to reach its full potential, it needed a push. Here’s where things get spicy.

    ENGINE
From the factory, the 2.5L i5 is an excellent engine, but it has some flaws. During our initial testing, we managed to blow up 21 engines just trying to dial in the SCTE system, which I will explain later. The mechanical limit of the engine is around 450 crank torque, and that’s honestly pushing it. Another limit we found was that above 7500 RPM, the valves begin to float. So here we are with an engine that doesn’t like torque or high RPM. This is where our work begins. Born is the Bi5HOE. We built this engine to remedy every issue we encountered in the tuning process. An acronym for “Bar Inline 5 High Output Engine,” it is a POWERHOUSE designed to push the platform to unseen heights. We’ve built the internals to hold north of 1500 lbs of torque! We’ve also beefed up the heads with stiffer valves, springs, and retainers to stop the valve float. With all the work we’ve done, the engine safely revs to 8200 RPM and retains a stock-like powerband.

    Transmission

The factory transmission is a 7-Speed Dual Clutch which isn’t bad but of course we beefed that up as well and retrofitted a second one. We covered the 7-Speed into a 9-Speed and we’ve custom cut gears to fit our vision for the car. The dualclutch already shifts first but with the use of high quality transmission oil and a custom Transmission valve body we’ve managed to get the car to shift faster than you can blink. For reference the average blink lasts 100–150 milliseconds so it shifts FAST. Named BT10DCFS it’s the perfect transmission to push any Vivace to its limit! We managed to keep the gear ratios close while still allowing you to reach a top speed of 200+ mph depending on the application. The BT8SFA trans we developed is not your typical automatic, it shifts similar to a Dual-Clutch but we’ve added a transbrake because why not. Both of our proprietary transmissions are tuned from the factory for maximum performance and drivability!

    ECU & SCTE
We’ve developed an ECU specifically for this project, “Barnone Genesis 1500” is light years ahead of the competition. Built from the ground up for exceptional control and performance. Much is still in the works but for now I’ll explain what it’s currently capable of.

    • Boost Control (Patreon Feature) - Completely End User Controllable. Can be set as low as 5psi or as high as 40psi. Extremely useful when you’re out and about round the streets and want more power. Traditionally you have to re-tune every time you adjust boost but the SCTE takes care of that for you.

    • Exhaust Burple - Has 3 Settings, “Soft”, “Medium”, and “Hard”. Settings are self explanatory and you can adjust the duration of the Burples via the “tuning” menu.

    • Turbo Style - Has 3 Configs that tell the SCTE which power-band to apply based on your chosen Turbo. The configs are as follows:

    I. Stock/Hybrid: Designed for the factory Turbo or Our 6262 Hybrid Turbo. We’ve tuned it to extract maximum performance from these specific turbos. The power-band is extremely broad and pulls from start to finish.

II. 72mm: Designed specially for our proprietary 74mm turbo! It maximizes the potential of the turbo while maintaining extreme efficiency and a strong pull through the SCTE function. I wouldn’t advise using this on a stock motor.

III. 84mm: Designed specifically for our 84mm turbo, currently the largest turbo on the platform. We’ve tuned to to mitigate turbo lag and bring in the boost aggressively under WOT and it’s ROWDY.
    • Fuel Type - Of course you can run gasoline, but if you want an 14% power jump without changing anything you can switch to e85 and feel the difference. Keep in mind that using e85 you will burn fuel 30% faster but for the performance gain I think it’s worth it.

    • SCTE - Software Controlled Turbine Efficiency (Xpogo Sam Named), a tuning masterpiece which allows us to command power exactly where we want it and completely shape the power-band exactly how we choose. I can make a turbo spool at 2k rpm or 5k rpm, is completely at my will. In the past we didn’t have control to this level but now we do. It’s not perfect yet and we’re actively developing more features within it so stay tuned!

    Turbos
We’ve developed 3 New turbos for the Vivace market and they are all absolute powerhouses! We are proud to announce our product line.

    • 6262 Hybrid Turbo - roughly 30% larger than stock with a noticeable power difference. Extremely capable, quick spool, powerful, what more can you ask for?

    • 7274 - One off top mount turbo designed in house by us. If your goal is to reach 4 digit horsepower on regular gasoline fuel this is the turbo for you! We put a large amount of R&D into the products we release so expect unparalleled performance.

    • 8274 - The BIGGEST turbo you can slap on this French compact car. Inherently overkill considering what the chassis is but it’s fine, just hang on tight. Hands down the most powerful turbo on the market. You can expect this to feel like a punch in the face when boost hits but not in a bad way, more so in a speed giggles type of way.

    Exhaust

We’ve developed 2 exhaust systems to suit our turbos and provide maximum power with little drawback.

    • BP High Flow Exhaust - Designed for Stock & Hybrid turbos, through flow tests it’s down to have a significant horsepower gain over stock and other aftermarket exhaust systems. It has its own custom tone and it sounds WICKED.

    • Top Mount Exhaust - Designed for the Top Mount Turbos! It allows proper flow and sounds beautiful when paired with either turbo from our Top Mount Series.

    DriveModes

The Vivace has different drive modes and slot types to go with them, I did away with the slots and hard set the ESC to 4 settings. Tame, Wild, Rabid, and Rabid+.

    1. Tame: Cars exhaust is noticeably quieter and has a boost reduction factor of 6 psi (whatever your boost level is set to, take away 6 psi and that’s how you’re driving it in this setting. Retains all the nannies (abs, traction, stability). The idea was to get the car to feel more controlled for everyday driving.
    Screenshot2024-07-28213725.png
    2. Wild: This setting is Full power, nothing is being pulled it’s just raw power with all the nannies. No changes to exhaust Noises so you can hear it purrrr.
    Screenshot2024-07-28213732.png
    3. Rabid: This setting is for when you want to give the car a jump in power of an extra 6PSI and slightly reduce stability by cutting off traction control. It’s designed to almost be a “Scramble” setting. Is extremely useful when you misjudged the car next to you and need some extra power to win the race.
    Screenshot2024-07-28213737.png
    4. Rabid+: Does the same exact thing as “Rabid” but all the nannies are cut off and it’s completely up to you to keep thr car from hitting a tree. Good luck.

    Radiator

You can’t go fast without proper cooling mods so we made sure we have you covered in that area. The BP Xtreme Cool radiator will keep your car running below cool at all times. It’s a radiator and Interchiller in one. We haven’t found the mechanical limit of it yet despite lending one to WhistlinDiesel.

    In Conclusion

Our work is far from done and we are working to develop as much as I can to further the platform. With that being said our best work is ahead of us. We appreciate you choosing Bar None Performance and we hope you enjoyed this lengthy write up! Share your feedback with me about this article to redeem a custom SCTE tune! Thank you for your time and I’ll be back soon with more!
