2008 Taylor Thunderbolt B6-Stormer AWD 1.1

A car combining American styling with Japanese engineering.

Taylor wanted a well-rounded sports car that looks powerful and drives just as it looks. The 2008 Taylor Thunderbolt B6-Stormer was a American-Made Performance Car with Japanese engineering, which seemed odd on paper but in the end proved capable. The styling mimicked many Classic American Pony Cars, with a boxy muscular design and bold fender flares and wide carved exhaust tips, but with LED Taillights and Bi-Xenon Headlights for a more modern look.

The engine of choice was a naturally-aspirated 3.2 liter Boxer-6 that contained Taylor's first mainstream implementation of Dual-Drive, a system developed with help of Hirochi that tweaks the cams and valve timing above 5500rpm for greater power on demand while remaining efficient at the low RPM range. Output was a impressive at the time 460hp at 8900rpm, but with only 297lb-ft of torque at 7500rpm it truly was like the Japanese-made engines of the day. With a 7-speed Dual-Clutch gearbox, All-Wheel-Drive (40F/60R) and weighing under 1940kg well equipped, it was able to launch from 0-60mph in 4.5sec and go up to a top speed of 183mph.
