1995 Volvo 960 Sedan 1.0.4

Back in the 90s, Volvo made a luxury tank that recycled the Volvo 740's skeleton. It was a new model called the 960. Unlike the 940, this model had a 3.0L inline 6 engine that produced around 201 horsepower. In 1995, there was a facelift for the 960, and power output was decreased to 181 horsepower for USDM models. This car was able to reach 0 to 60 in 9.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 126 miles per hour. Some models such as the car featured in this mod came with heated seats and a CD player in the trunk. The Volvo 960 was overshadowed by the sporty 850 during it's production run. It was eventually renamed to the S90 in 1997 with minor updates and changes.



A used Volvo 960 in the wild was once sold brand new to a fairly wealthy individual, possibly a lawyer, or maybe a businessman. It was an executive car for a man who goes to work wearing a tweed jacket. It wouldn't matter if the owner ever changed the oil in the 960 because the engine was overengineered to be bulletproof.



Nowadays, the Volvo 960 is still being eclipsed by other Volvo models. Hipsters are drawn towards smaller vehicles such as the 240, 850, S70, and V70. Despite its lack in popularity, it is not uncommon to see a 700 or 900 series being used for rallycross.



If you drive this car in average condition for its age, you will be greeted by crunchy leather seats, a sticky steering wheel, a broken fuel gauge, and possibly a sunroof that leaks when it rains. It might not attract any attention, but the 960 is by all means the last true Volvo ever produced. As cars become more advanced and complicated, the 960 is cemented as a simple and honest car.
