1986-1992 Familiewagen (FW) Klub II / Heimat 4WD

Most stats are inspired by most weird Volkswagen Golf II trim, the Country 4x4, produced from 1987 to 1992. Some stats are not quite realistic, but are very close to the real counterpart.

    The Story:

Familiewagen Klub was, and still is the well-recognised hatch model, which trace its roots back to the 1974. It was the father of the European hatchback class, that means moderate wheelbase (2.45m), very boxy design cues, front-wheel drive and 1.3 L to 1.6 L inliner-4 engine. Of course, it's positioned on the unibody based chassis too, as most European hatches.
Klub mk.1 was produced from 1974 to 1983, and was also the winner of the Eurocar award in the first year of its introduction. In USA, it was known as FW Jackrabbit too after the 1973 Oil Crisis, which was important for presence of small European and Japanese cars in the American market.
The Klub mk.2 was produced from 1984 to 1992, and was actually updated stylistically and mechanically predecessor. The design lines were more simple and geometrically conventional, the "boxy" feeling was present, and the new 1.8L inliner-4 was introduced. The car was fuelled by gasoline or diesel, and the customer could choose carburettor or electronic Wusch fuel-injection. Trims were very personalized and customized for most potential buyers' tastes.
Downgraded 1.3L and 1.6L (both gasoline and diesel) models were produced in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia (nowadays Bosnia) until the 1992., when the FW factory was destroyed.
The "Heimat 4x4" (actually Country trim in reality) was result of cooperation between FW and Austrian offroad maker called Meyer-Luchs (Steyer-Puch) from 1987 to 1992. The chassis was augmented and had higher clearance, the weight was quite increased, and the FWD was replaced with 4WD. Most cars were painted in couple of metallic colours, but most frequent was "Montana Green" as present in this mod. The car was full of offroad accessories and was powered by 98 hp 1.8L engine, as the upper-tier regular FWD Klubs. The interior was identical to the "classic" FWD Klubs.
The car proved to have good offroad skills, somewhat "heavy" handling and decent engine, and it's counted as potential classic of the late 1980's and the early 1990s. This experiment was ceased in the 1992 and without any spiritual successor until the 2010s.
