Beta 1977 Slimak Ladny 3 Litre Very Sporty 1.0

An implied Alternate Universe Polish attempt at a sporty hatch

  1. Doctor Robert
In 1977, the Polish state-controlled automobile factory Slimak decided to create a very sporty modification for the purpose of entering the 1977 Group B Rally Championship held in Wales. In order to do this, they took their then-new Ladny hatchback, originally launched in 1972 and put the 3 litre flat-four usually reserved for the party-boss-exclusive Bogaty limousine into the humble front-engine-rear-wheel-drive hatch. While technically available on waiting lists as an available sport option for the people, only those who had curried much favor with the party ever saw these cars. Between 1977 and 1983, only approximately 17 of these cars found their way to the public.

Powered by an ancient flat-four derived from a 1930s Volkswagen unit, the Ladny Very Sport developed 93 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 135 pound-feet of torque at 2200 rpm. It performed in late-70s rallies very admirably for its class, however it failed to win any trophies.
