1964-1969 Boleslava 1000 B

The Czechoslovak classic, inspired by then up-to-date Western European small family cars. Tailored for the needs of the upcoming middle class, and also limited by restrictions of Czechoslovak goverment, Boleslava 1000 B was rear-engined, rear-drive model powered by underpowered 1000cc inliner-4, OHV-8 engine (as the name says) which had produced 45 hp at 4800 RPM. The innovation was the engine material, which was aluminium to make the vehicle lightweight and to reduce fuel consumption. The fuel eco was around 7 L / 100 km, and the empty weight was 682 kgs, while the goverment restrictions capped the max weight up to 700 kgs.
The car, while it was innovative and followed the Western mainstream trends in terms of mechanics and external design, was indeed somewhat unreliable, nicknamed in some countries as "Thousand Little Sorrows". Produced from 1964-1969, it was quickly replaced by more modern spiritual successor 100 B, which retained original mechanics of the car.
The mechanics and external design are borrowed from Škoda 1000 MB family, the popular Czechoslovak / Czech small family car. Have fun : )
