Over the past 2 weeks I have started losing weight (again) and I'm happy to say im down over 10 lbs in about 10 days. I attribute the weight loss to:

No more sugar (especially in my drinks)
    Low carbs
Normal intake of dairy/red meat (nothing changed there)
Added lean protein (lean beef, chicken, turkey, legumes)
    Smaller portions at meal time
Small snacks here and there (granola bars, protein bars, curb hunger)
    Still smoking 420/cigs
Only drinking alcohol 1 day a week (fridays usually)
Eating more leafy greens and vegetables.
Cooking my own food for work-lunch (not fast food)
Not eating for 2 hours before bedtime
Hiking/Bike riding again (gotta get back into that)
Massages (3 massages this week by this HOT GUY omg but hes so good lol)

I have lost 2 inches off my waist, my work uniform is now falling off me. Face/neck has slimmed down considerably.

I started at 278lbs and im down to 267lbs as of this morning. I weight myself morning (before work) and PM (before bed). At that weight, you might think im a total lard-ass, but I am 6ft tall and already have a naturally large frame, neck is 20 1/2" around for example, but my waist is only a 36-38. I am shooting for a 32" waist by the summer, which gives me (here in Texas) about 3 months to get my shit together. I am looking to lose about 60 lbs, which is totally doable. After this week, and all the massages, I will be loosened up enough to go back to doing cardio at the gym with some intermittent weight training. I have plenty of muscle as it is, I just need to do cardio to blast off some of the excess jiggly bits and bloating, then I can do weights to further tone my back/midsetion. Im excited, and after seeing positive results without really trying, I am that much more motivated to kick my own ass back into shape. My mom comes to visit the end of February, so a little over a month I am looking to be at or below 250. I think that is easily attainable based on my current progress. I'm excited, which is something that is hard to achieve in and of itself when it comes to weight loss...thats always the downfall when people try to lose weight. They really, REALLY just dont want to.

New way of life, new routines, that is something that is easy to stick with even after you have your goal weight, there are all kinds of diets etc. however only new way of life works years and years, so looks like you have found that route :)

Had another migraine last night, and I am still frequently getting eye strain. These issues have only existed since moving back in with my parents, so I'm thinking it must be something to do with the room.

Next test, cover up part of the blinds with a beach towel. Perhaps the way that they are reflecting light is causing the issues?

I have also adjusted my monitor brightness to be much closer to minimum for the time being to try and give my eyes a bit of rest.

Do you have the lights on in your room? The wrong frequency and colour could be the cause too.

No, I don't have any lights on. I did find that removing the monitor back lighting helped a lot. But that said, I had monitor back lighting where I used to live and it didn't cause any issues.

Anyway, got a new phone this week. My previous phone (iPhone X) dropped from 10m (had minimal damage, just a cracked back) and Apple decided to give me a new one for the price of the reparation (which is covered by insurance )
Great service experience, also decided to get a new case with it, which has proved to do it’s work already

Way sleeker than my last phone case, and way stronger too. Love the look of it

I ordered a rear bumper (painted to match as best as possible) and its going to come folded up into a box for the Mazda lol Also got the OEM LED tail lights to replace the stock OEM standard-type tail light for it too. Im excited mostly for the lights to come, but theres been a bit of damage on the rear bumper for some time and I just want to get a new bumper for it. I went to a body shop and they quoted me over 5,000 for the bumper/lights/ slight quarter panel repair. I said screw that, and went to ebay and after just 700 bucks, the back of the car will look better (at least) than it does now. I will certainly upload pics of what these "ebay paint-to-match bumpers" look like packaged, as well as installed. I dont have very high hopes but at almost 90k miles, its not worth it to actually ave bodywork done on it at a shop. Also considering getting 2x Sparco (wide) seats for the front, the original cushion is getting flat (leather still looks brand new lol) and my lower thigh needs more support because of the stick shift/clutch and my legs doing all that moving around. Plus they will hold me in better going around the corners on my way home. Also considering getting lowering springs, or maybe even a full set of coilovers. Once the warranty is expired, that is when I will do the suspension work. Warranty good for 10 years, 125k miles baby lol

so my friend managed to crash his truck today. the damage is pretty ugly. definitely repairable, but probably not worth the cost and effort. he sort of slowly veered into the opposite lane and clipped the corner of his car on another car, at about 50mph. what a jackass, right? i have no doubt he was on his phone, but he denies it of course.

    i sort of assumed he wouldn't be getting another vehicle anytime soon (he's 17), but just after it happened his mom told him they'd probably be able to get him another car if he found a cheap one that he liked. so here's the thing: we both really want him to get a vehicle with a manual trans, but his mom will be hard to convince. originally, he wanted something with a stick, something a teenager would stereotypically want (WRX, 350Z, 240SX, Mustang, etc.). of course, he didn't end up getting one (and probably knew he wouldn't from the beginning), but he still wanted a manual. however, his mom denied any car with a stick, for a few reasons;
    • he's never driven one in real life (he drives on my wheel setup sometimes and is great at it, and he partially understands the mechanics of how the clutch and transmission work)
    • his mom doesn't know how to drive a manual transmission
    • he would get confused at the controls and crash it (lol)
but..... i could easily teach him, since he's a pretty quick learner for that kind of stuff. i could also teach his mom, but i have a feeling she'd laugh dismissively at me if i told her that (teenagers can't teach adults anything, that's obviously not how it works). plus, she never drove his truck anyway, in the whole year that he had it, so why would that change with a new car? oh, and about the confusion thing, i've never heard of that happening.

so really i'd love to know if you guys have any ideas as to how we could convince her to buy him a stick shift car.
because he's feeling a bit hopeless at this point, and is really bummed about his truck. it was his first car, and we named it and it had a personality and everything. always fixed itself too if you ignored the problem. i'd love to give him some good news and get his hopes up about his new car if possible.

Driving a stick keeps more focus on what's going on with the car and keeps you off of driving distracted..

I guess it's worth a shot to try to convince his mom and teach him how to drive a manual. It would at least add more options as to what vehicle he could get next.

I mean I don't know how drive a manual myself, and I've contemplated if I should try to learn, though I don't really know anyone who could teach me. But much like building a computer, I'm not very confident.

It's not difficult at all, especially if you understand how clutches and gears work.. I played racing games in manual for years and when i learn it took about 3 minutes.

    Trust me, you can...

A good 99% of the circulating vehicles over here are manual, and still an awful lot of people are distracted by their phones...

I suppose you don't really need to hold onto the wheel anyway :p

I honestly hate people that text and drive, it's such a selfish thing to do...

    Agree.

Especially when you realize how many cars today come with text-reading/vocal input capabilities integrated in their infotainment system...

One of my cars comes with said functions, and I still refuse to use them. Replies can wait till I get to destination. For urgent stuff, I can be reached on my pager.
