stay on beamng for high-quality, original mods- however, if you want low-quality and/or stolen mods that may or may not corrupt your game or the entire c drive go ahead
Most of their mods are stolen rips. I compared my files to theirs and there's no difference, and no sneaky virus as I can see. And apparently they do plan against vehicle folder free mods, like mine.
Back in 2014, when I just bought the game, I downloaded only russian mods. They did nothing to my computer and had no viruses inside. I still download mods from russian sites sometimes when I want to laugh at some horrible russian mod or get a previous version of some mod that is not available on the repository anymore. They still contain no viruses, just be sure to install them without the automatic installer. The tales about viruses were made up by somebody to discourage people from downloading these mods because they are mostly stolen or bad quality.
No, those stories are not made up. There are definitely some files there that have viruses and adware included in the downloads. I've heard that Worldofmods has an installer for BeamNG mods. That sounds like a guaranteed way to get a virus
I once got like 100 viruses from some mod downloader from a russian mod site, but worldofmods is saf and I you don't want the exe you can download the zip
It does apparently. Aside from confusing people, it also install mods in the game directory, which is a nightmare when they have problems and need to figure that out..
I agree something like that or it comes up with a message on screen saying *User tries to install the game downloaded from a russian website* "Oh thats cute you didnt pay for this game then....so I wont install for you...bye bye" *Program deletes itself*
But what if I bought the game and I installed a Russian mod into it and the mentioned feature did exist, what should I do?
delete russian mods and then it should work, it would be for anyone who downloads the game from the russian website that is a cracked version of it
well if they had a pirated copy of the game that error would come up, if they had russian mods it should say on screen with the game "Russian mods please remove and go to the OFFICIAL website!"
How to tell if a mod is "russian"? While developing, I use the /content/vehicles/ folder pretty often. Your "russian mod prevention system" would uninstall my stuff as well. Besides, each user is free to install whatever mod he wants, no matter how crappy. It's their choice, if they are downloading said mods, chances are they can't tell the difference.
god help us if someone decides to install a French mod. You guys are extremely childish, people can mod their game however they like. If they like poor quality ports from stolen assets then that is their prerogative.
When I first got the game, I was oblivious to the fact that these mods were crappy and slow, so I had a lot of russian supercars. I didn't get any viruses, but after a while I realized that they were trash and cleaned my game out. Also, these mods are hell to install. So, if you want supercar mods (or mods that were deleted from the forums), that or stmods is the place to go. But don't download any fictional cars from those sites, because they most likely are on the forums. So go there and support the original mod creators
You did steal chickendudes mod from steam group, right? See what those evil sites makes you, they are bad for you, better stay away from such sites, almost as bad as video games and tv or cellphones, oh wait... :-X
