So my brother has a PC with an i3, a 1TB HDD and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM.
We want to add stuff to it for <100 dollars to make it able to run Beam at low settings with at least 30 FPS.
Can you suggest stuff to make it as beastly as possible for under 100 dollars?
    Thanks.

If there is no GPU, then getting a GPU is first thing to do, for under 100 dollars you need to look 2nd hand.

Then ram upgrade, with 4GB ram addition and 2nd hand 1050 or similar, you might be close to 100 dollars and quite surely 30fps on lowest and probably much more.

Ok but 100 dollars is our maximum budget, can I find one of those within that range?

Get a used GTX 970. They should be going for around $100, Craigslist is the way to go, and negotiate.

Maybe go for a 960 instead and whatever 500w you can find.

GT1030 isn't that bad, roughly equivalent to a GTX 750ti. (i think, don't take me as gospel)

What resolution will he play the game at?

Then go 750Ti :) some people don't want to go used, if you don't mind then the 750Ti is the go to card, it's also slightly faster than the 1030.
