In regards to the whole automation mods debate: What I like: Good way for inexperienced players to drive cars they made. Has own repo so it doesn't clog the main one. They drive very well. What I don't like: People who constantly advertise their automation cars on the beam forums. People who consider them mods in the sense of actual mods. Deformation is subpar, but that's to be expected.
Calm down tones, no need to get excessively agitated. The thread is plenty of opposing opinion, and ~14 pages have proved that they can be in constructive discussion
They are most definitely mods. But they, along with tracks, have taken the spot of "low effort mods" which used to be held by skins, and scenarios.
One thing to be said about the automation mods, they should be in their own TOTALLY separate part of the forums, so much so that they dont show up on the "whats new" tab, since everytime someone posts a new automation car with a real world name/model/manufacturer it just gets confusing...They are already split off into a sub-forum, keep their updates separate as well...just something I have noticed. Because although it is a rather neat bit of kit, especially for people who want to drive what they created, it really is a separate "game mode", since those cars are no where near Dev cars in driving characteristics or deformation. Yes, they are sub par compared to dev cars, but if you dont like them, dont download or comment or bother with them. Thats kinda why I think the posts should remain separate...just an observation of course.
Ports. They came straight from another game with official support for the process. Modding is when you have to modify the game itself to add in additional content. Nadeox is right, let's get back on track shall we?
it runs decent on my computer (30-40fps) --- Post updated --- so stop justifying the devs with the whole automation thing, whether y'all admit it or not, it was just a way to help another game make money (and possibly the beamng devs)
They're not mods, as they're made in-game. I would consider them part of the game rather than mods. You're all starting to turn your backs on the creators that made this game what it is today. There's a reason that a lot of great modders have quit. I can see why by this community's attitude towards them. oH aUtOMaTiON mOdS aRe mODs mOddEr snOwFlake
I use the automation exporter, but they are NOT mods. Modding is making your own stuff, not with the help of a video game.
so? we got a way to use vehicles we made on automation, and more cars to beam. Sure enough, they are not dev quality, i dont really care that much.
Modding is adding to the game, no matter whether you do it with Blender, another game or an allen wrench.
Mod is short for modification. You are adding something to the game that is not available by default, thus it is a mod(ification). It's as simple as that
