I should probably increase the maximum battery input limit anyways; larger batteries can typically handle much higher peak charge rates. I'm working on optimizing the gear ratio of the motor which will also improve the regen power.
just out of interest, what kind of year is this hybrid bus? With 12kwhr i'm getting a feeling it's Ni-Cad, therefore the weak regen, and whiney inverters are quite appropriate But if it is designed to be newer, then i see where you are coming from.
I based the specs roughly off of a New Flyer document I found, which I believe listed Lithium Ion as the cell type. The inverter is based off of Chicago's "older" (a few years old) hybrids, which I believe are also New Flyers.
I just published a new version of both the ETK800 and Citybus hybrid mods! The new version for both is Version 2.0, and includes a brand new, custom, unique gearbox based off of the Prius transmission. No more belt-driven CVT! The updates are still awaiting approval, but I've updated the main post in this thread to reflect the new changes.
Is there any car that use this mode? Performance optimized mode: The ICE is always running at full power regardless of throttle/brake position, unless the battery is full. This make the car "stack up" as much energy as possible to race faster.
Unfortunately that's not exactly possible because of how the transmission works. Charging the battery with the engine causes forward motion on the wheels, which can be counteracted to an extent, but it wouldn't act quite like you're thinking. It's a symptom of a pure-parallel hybrid system, which is what my system is based on. A multi-mode parallel/series system like what's in the Volt would be able to do that, but not in a pure-parallel. I could have the engine operate at higher RPM ranges to an extent (up until it hits the maximum speed of the motors), which would help response times.
I have, what I wouldn't call a bug, but rather a minor inconvenience. Reverse doesn't work with arcade gearbox for some reason. The car is just sitting there doing nothing. I drive with realistic gearbox so it doesn't bother me, but whenever the AI gets in a situation where it needs to reverse, it gets pretty much immobilized. I also have a feature suggestion. If the battery charge drops below a lower limit, it will disable EV mode and not allow it to be enabled until the battery has been charged enough. Here's what happened: I had then forgotten that I had left my hybrid car (blue) in EV mode, and the battery charge dropped so low it couldn't even start the ICE. I was thinking that I could have half the car parked on the trailer and having it towed with my race car I was able to put some charge in the battery. It actually worked so I could start the ICE and start charging the battery.
Clever solution to get it started again I should probably disable it once the battery reaches a minimum; I'll make a note for that for the next version. I haven't really tested anything with Arcade because of how vastly different it works from the Realistic mode. I'm not sure how easy it would be to make that work, but I can look into it.
Thank you for replying! I did a look into the Arcade gearbox issue myself. I don't know much about coding myself. I think the script doesn't take into account that the throttle and brake inputs are switched when the car is going backwards (you press the brake to accelerate). Also, I love the work you've done! I like when people puts attention to detail into simulating features. The other "hybrid car" mods I've seen are just normal cars where they've just added an electric motor in the sound files.
I'd think you would want to design a completely different system for that car, because of its age (something similar to the old Insight).

Arcanox's mod is a model of the Toyota Prius Hybrid drive, you need to understand the MG1 and MG2 and how they function before playing with values really.
Can you explain what you mean by "keeps cutting the combustion engine power"? The only time it'll intentionally reduce combustion power is when you're coasting with the engine running (e.g. at higher speeds). My first post in this thread explains what all of those parameters do; they adjust the characteristics of the transmission motor-generators, in addition to the gear ratio of the planetary gearset. I would highly advise against changing the gear tooth counts; it's easy to come up with ratios that are physically impossible in the real world, and the default tooth count matches that of the real-world Toyota eCVT gearbox (every single Toyota hybrid uses the same tooth count for the planetary). Also, I'm working on a fairly significant overhaul of the hybrid controller logic in a new version at some point in the future, which will change the way the power is distributed between the motors and the engine. It will probably make it easier to tune the eCVT parameters.
When I am driving at full speed (and full throttle) regardless of battery charge engine power output is about 100hp less than it's real power output (by real power output I mean power at the same rpm but with normal powertrain) , I tried it with different engines and it always seems to loose those 100hp somehow
It's possible that the power or torque settings for MG1 aren't powerful enough to counter the engine's maximum power, and it's only able to utilize part of the engine's full power output. I'm not sure when I'll have the new version ready, but it might make this situation more obvious. In addition, if the battery is closer to full, it will definitely use less engine power at first to save fuel.
"It's possible that the power or torque settings for MG1 aren't powerful enough to counter the engine's maximum power" I don't think so I set MG1 and MG2 to 500 and max MG2 torque was calculated as 1875 and the power loss was the same for 300BHP and 720BHP Engine. Battery at 53%, and engine power on flywheel is only 161HP compare to 278HP that engine gives at 8000rpm And even when battery is closed to empty it still only gives 194HP from engine And with 720HP engine I still can't reach it's full power But with different (normal CVT) transmission I have no problem to get full engine power
At speeds that high it's going to take a pretty substantial amount of power to apply load onto the engine because of the way an eCVT works at higher speeds. Definitely don't expect to get full power at 300 km/h. What does it do at lower speeds?
