Pickup truck with a petrol engine is something utmost rare in some parts of the world. Mostly US market as well some other cheap gasoline areas have seen so wide use of petrol engines in utility vehicles. Diesel in US has been quite rare thing 80's and early 90's, I guess? I remember reading how availability of diesel was not so wide at those times, there was one article where they mentioned that longer road trip required planning as diesel was not so widely available and some points about quality of diesel was brought up too, but then again I don't know how true to reality article was as at those days information could be bit skewed. In Scandinavia pickup trucks are more of Japanese origin and have diesel engines mostly. US made trucks are not very popular, but there are diesel variants especially with newer models, those age of D-series I don't know if I have seen diesel, but fullsize STW cars of that era seem to have quite many diesel engines. For US market of early 90's, I'm not sure which models used to have diesel options?
where i am from, most pickups are 2.0 diesels maxing out around 200hp **edit** forgot ur in the UK, you probably know
I'm in world, have lived in a few countries and reside usually in several throughout the year. I have suffered in UK too, but then again some people think I'm in US too. World citizen, no roots to anyplace, home is nowhere and everywhere. Hoping to move soon again, can't stay 1 year still Anyway it probably is not quite the topic to try to guess where I happen to be from, it reads in my profile page after all >:] France and UK are very much diesel nations, now they are trying to get rid of diesels in EU, I wonder what is behind the scenes power game in that. However Beamverse is kinda heavily bound to US, new map Italy is then very much Europe, so will there be EU export versions of vehicles too? Even though they have mentioned that adding one more frame to D-series would add too much things to maintain, so how diesel engine, would it be much easier as it does need fuel tank, sound, transmission tuning, etc. changes? It might be that there are not going to be diesel for those reasons and because at given era diesel was not exactly common option on US trucks and if it is going to have diesel, it would probably be V8, that so wonderful DX variety I guess? No Cummins power for you, not even for D35 I would think.
troll but yeah i look forward to those RHD vehicles, Automation track is laid out for RHD vehicles. And yeah not everything has to have a cummins, just a diesel V8 or diesel i4. Well i did make a megamod that did that, i should probably update it! But it is mad having every single D series config with 6 different engines and Manual/Automatic.
Now imagine that how many vehicles devs have to manage, putting more options needs consideration as it can end up with taking too much time, especially in phase of development where they are making still changes to vehicular systems, adding features etc. Here, this helps with the burning question you have in your mind, where I'm from :+D
It would be interesting to see a small diesel truck by Gavril for the UK division, like what the Ford Ranger is to the F-150. As for Diesel engines, I could see Gavril having something similar to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Diesel_V8_engine
LF9 which I knows as 5.7DX that was not the most reliable motor, was used in 1500, Suburban etc. which would also be possibility, that Detroit Diesel I think was a better option for some of similar vehicles while 5.7 was the base model? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_Diesel_engine Both really would be potential options if diesel would happen in first place. However with 5.7DX head gasket failure needs to be far more common Can't remember was it just head gasket or was head cracking the actual fail, but it was somewhat weak at least some years of it, someone probably remembers better.
The D-series should have a diesel. Ford and GM had diesels available for their trucks by 1982, and Chrysler added a diesel in 1989, although you could get a Mitsubishi diesel on order on earlier models. The D-series would definitely have a diesel engine available, although probably only on the D-35. It wouldn't add too much maintenance, you'd just need a fuel tank, low geared diffs, and the engine.
I would like to see a smaller diesel pickup maybe a sunburst based one? As some of the pickups we see here are car based like the old caddy the dacia pickup or more fit for italy the fiat strada. Also the only trucks i see here are rangers with diesel or Dodge RAM with the full fat v8
Also transmission tuning for shift points, which can be sometimes bit tricky, especially with lower revving engines. C-10 seems to have had Oldsmobile diesels at 80's (3rd gen gm truck), so I guess that even for D-15 it might be then possibility? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_C/K Then again it is Beamverse and D-series was 90's model, from 88 to 94, but visually it looks to be closer to 3rd gen, but 4th gen started 88 already, so is it then only 6.2l or is it also 5.7 with D-15? I'm with @skodakenner 70's Bedford / Isuzu would be really fitting to Euromap and JRI, also it was imported to US too, for it's size best load carrying capabilities, long bed yet still small dimensions for narrow farm roads. Gutless, very low rpm 4-pot diesel that lugs along just fine. Without load gets stuck even on level ground during winter, but despite lack of power, it goes sideways so nicely, thanks to long wheelbase. Anyway I guess new sound files are needed to have V8 diesel for d-series, so there is that too. There is only bus diesel sounds currently and getting diesel sounds to sound good is not quite so simple.
I hope we get some sort of engine swap mechanic soon that allows us to put any engine in something as long as it’s physically possible. Now that we have so many cars and a lot of them are missing some obvious swaps, some sort of system to automatically do this might be faster than someone having to code all the possible swaps individually. Career mode just wouldn’t feel right without some silly options. Plus I really want that official Gavril V8 swap in the 200BX...
well with CMS 2018, there ARE engine swaps but it's pretty limited. you find a car with a 1carb OHV, you can fit a Supercharged OHV in it, or a Turbo 4 banger in something that has a transverse 4 banger.
While the Customization in this game is superb, I feel like a more modular setup with limitless possibilities would fit career mode better, such as engine swaps from other cars and more suspension setups.
I fully expect there to be a V8 swap for the Autobello. many Beetles got turned into the Beetle buggy thing.
