Hi, I'm a 4770k and 780ti owner and as I do with all games, I turned this one to the absolute maximum. It's all fine and dandy running at 55-70fps but sometimes it drops all the way to 30-35. Is this a common thing or it's just a problem with me? Any other 780ti owners out there?

Are you checking your temperatures? My guess is that your CPU is over heating and throttling, it won't in any other game because they're not as CPU intensive.

    I've got a 7970 and an i5-4670k and my frames don't drop below 60 on max settings @ 1080p.

Does it stay at 30-35 FPS or does it just do it for a second then go back up? If it stays at 30-35, then it's probably a cooling problem. If it just does it for a second or to, it may just be some random lag that the game gives sometimes.

Ah yes I forgot to add that its at 1440p. If temps are the problem do you think CPU getting as hot as 50-60 degrees is a lot?

Thanks for the reply! I checked the temps and it usually goes as high as 50-60 degrees. Is that a lot?

I'm no expert on this, but I just went and looked up the max temperature that that CPU and GPU can run at. Your temperatures seem fine, and nowhere near the max temps.

I don't think his resolution is the issue... I run fine on max settings with triple 1080p widescreen on an AMD 7870. That's 5928x1080 with bezel compensation, which is about 6.4 million pixels, while 2560x1440 is just about half that. A 780ti would blow it away.

60* Celcius is fine... Are there possibly other apps using resources?

Definitely not, that is standard idle temps for most CPU's.

Anything below 80°c is fine, even at 95°c it would run perfectly fine, but I wouldn't recommend it.
99°c is usually when your PC will switch off.

My CPU get's up to 70°c under max load, that's with a 4.4Ghz overclock and watercooling.

Too hot would be 70+ for a CPU. His temps are just fine.

No offence but I don't believe you. Lod Dry Rock Island and check your FPS :D Grid map doesn't count.

Did a complete loop... never dropped below twenty, usually over thirty.

Ok so I checked again in a more sophisticated way my CPU goes up to 68 degrees and GPU stays at 65. The place where I get all my fps drops is Dry Rock Island for example if you turn left and around the first sharp turn to the left. I hope this is more clear.
They also drop when I drive out of the gas station.

Hell naw. If I'm on a really intensive map I'll drop back to one screen. Just sayin I do have a playable framerate on dry rock. I'm usually CPU limited to 30 or below when I have two cars anyway :L

The 4670 and 4770 thermally throttle from prolonged runtime at 85C, automatically at 95C and then thermal shutdown at 105C. 50-60 is perfectly in range for that model. Might be worth checking your BIOS though, a few motherboards do allow altered throttling plans which tend towards being overly aggressive. Intel do claim standard model haswell cores to remain stable at above 90C (they have expanded temperature range models for industrial application, scary ranges on some of those), I certainly wouldn't trust that myself but 50-60 should be fine.

so dry rock island is the heaviest map of the game? if so then I guess my fps drops are normal (happen on that map mostly)

I get some decent fps in Dry Rock island with full settings and 1080p, around 60+, but I also get some lag spikes when I'm moving around, but they only happen once, next time I drive around the same area it's all smooth.

Oh, your ''runs fine'' definition is completely different than mine ;) For me ''runs fine'' means 50+, otherwise it feels laggy.
