Thanks. I hope to cover as much as I know. Level making, scenarios, campaigns, tips for the editor like how to make roads smooth, heightmap terrains, decal roads, terrain painting and probably some more. It's on hold whilst Davidinark is on holiday. Episode 2 covers building a level foundation, preparing it for a fresh build and a basic overview of the terrain tools. Watch this space.
Sound fixed versions of these episodes are on the way. My friend DrDoomsLab has normalized the voice volumes so that you don't have to keep turning your sound level up and down hahaha. --- Post updated --- I would like to elaborate on a couple of points from episode 2. The grab terrain tool can be resized also to grab more terrain in one go. It's the same as raise/lower terrain but with your mouse position to move it. I bitched about the way that terrains are saved but, I think that the terrains save there to prevent saving over previous work. Gives you a safe chance to organize it is what I'm thinking now.
--- Post updated --- Yea I thought that too. I tryed to do this whole thing on my own but I am no YouTuber. As much as I do talk to myself or say things outloud when I am alone, I am no good at talking any sense whilst doing it. I thought I would choose my favorite BeamNG YouTuber and ask them if they would like to do a tutorial using them as my 'beautiful assistant' in making explaining the process much easier for me. I am happy with the way it is working so far, it's just a shame that we only have small windows to work in and David lives in the middle of butt scratch nowhere so his internet can be an issue sometimes. There are many more episodes of stuff to cover I can assure you. Thanks for your support
I can not thank your effort enough! Really appreciate it, makes the process a lot easier. Is there any chance for a vehicle creation tutorial?
Your welcome. Not from us I am afraid. I have no experience with vehicle creation. There are topics in the content creation forum that talk about it a lot though.
Are you going to show also technique how to make decal roads with help of mesh roads? I have done roads so that I make mesh road, then I adjust height of terrain to mesh road, after I have got my road leveled to mesh road, I then delete mesh road and use smoothing tools to smooth if further. Finally I can then use tools that raise or lower terrain, to make bumps, dips etc. That way it is hugely faster to make road and it will still have all the features of decal roads as well as terrain editing.
Ah yes that is a great idea! Thanks I had actually forgotten about that. I will go into that when we start scenarios soon. Thanks
I made a video, which might explain better, but it is 4GB so takes a while to upload. Cross posted... Great, I'm not only one forgetting things, I will post video here after it is uploded, even you know what I meant, maybe it shows something useful. I got awful holes which I have not got before when editing terrain though, also I forgot where to change texture of decal road as well as many other things, so video is terrible, that is why I don't really make tutorial videos, but who knows maybe I do something (could be I do something totally wrong!) that gives ideas what to cover. Something like 50 minutes until there is video attached to this post, meh, I'm so impatient When it has done processing and uploading, video can be found here:
