This has been one of my favorite updates in a long time. I really love the new dirt and gravel sounds - Beam is growing up :O

The new impact sounds add a bit more oomph to crashes, too.

There's obviously plenty more work to be done (crisper exhaust sounds would be nice :p), but hats off to you for the work so far.

Yep, separating the sound of the engine from the sound of the exhaust is one of the biggies that we'll work on next, with an emitter for each.

Yeah, the way it works is significantly better than the old awful single sample there was before. Just needs some tweaking.

Maybe this could be used as a reference for much larger crashes, as the current system is a bit lacking in that regard.

Hi there. Like the latest update, for the most part, except for one thing: why does the T-Series engine sound like the bus now? I can't help but assume that this probably wasn't intended, as we have always been informed of any engine sound changes and updates since we got the new ones last August, and there'd been no prior mention of any changes in that particular regard(engine notes, that is) as of yet, since last month's update.

They have a fairly similar engine so we figured it's better than to continue using the petrol I6 samples for the semi ;)

Okay, thanks for the quick reply. I'm just surprised that nobody had mentioned it before, given that you guys usually tell us about details in regards to changes to sounds(including ones smaller than this), but at least I now have an answer to a mystery which had bugged me for nearly three weeks. So thanks for clearing that up. :)

imho, the petrol i6 sound NEEDS to be replaced. the pop you hear when you let off the throttle and get back on it is HIGHLY Irritating.

Not sure what you are talking about, this is about giving the semi an actual diesel sound. :)

the sounds aren't quite exported correctly from Automation, here's a demo

This sound is designed in AM to mimic this..

but when exported to beamNG it sounds like this..

which sounds a lot more petrol like than the first video (automation).

They export only exhaust note, afaik. There was a FAQ in Steam where I did read that, but not sure if that has changed.

An extremely beneficial thing to add audio-wise would be startup bings for modern cars, like the bmw chime noises that you get when you first start the car.

Noted. However, the bings come when you turn the ignition to the standby state, and then you turn again to start up. Most of us do that in one go, so you don't hear the bings, and indeed the current ignition model is the same. Press the ignition and the car fires up. Wouldn't it be tedious having to press the ignition button 2 or 3 times to start the engine?

maybe it could be set so you hold the ignition key/button for a certain amount of time and if you don't hold it down long enough it goes to the standby state

I'm already seeing amount of support tickets "car does not start". Problem is here that while we would love some more realistic options, huge number of players are kinda casual and just don't want to deal with too much realism, they use arcade shifting and if car does not move when they use their throttle control, it might be enough to them to write game sucks or asking support for help to press Q to get back to arcade mode.

600 000 users or so, there is all kinds there and devs need to put quite bit of effort to plan these things in regards of how majority would respond, would it cause increase in support tickets, how much etc.

thats certainly true, idk maybe it could be an option you turn on, but that also could be difficult to implement.

I really want to get the engine starter and rod knock sounds modable back. Replacing them (or even deleting the file) doesn't affect the ingame sound. Right now the rod knock sound sounds like a stove igniter:

sounds more like a slowed down ticker-tape experiment to me, but many people haven't heard of it.
skip to 0:44 his ticker tape sounds very tinny. My school had ones that sounded nice

Starting playing Burnout Paradise remastered lately, and when you exit the junkyards you need to hold the throttle to start the car, which plays the whirring and turnover sound. Making it a hold button would actually be realistic for some older push button cars, and playing a turnover sound gives the idea that it needs to be held if it cuts off when you let go. I think newer push buttons don't require being held though.
