i know this might sound stupid because the beamng dev will have to find a way to optimize for lower specs but the level of optimization is amazing because this a laptop from 2013 that is able to run this game at all. but to get to the meat of the thing im bout to ask how hard would it be to optimize the game to run on low to mid range pcs like mine. im not trying to waste their time i just wan to play this amzing game at a somewhat stable framerate on low settings at least without mirco stutters and all of that. is it possible? like my pc can kind of run it at ultra low at 28-50 fps how hard would it be to code for my potato apu?
^ @micz233 I've used a 2013 laptop (Intel based) to play BeamNG until September 2017. I was lucky to achieve 30/35 Fps on East Coast with one car on low settings. You can't ask more of what your machine can do. If you're ok with it, stick with it, if you're not buy a desktop.
imma try to build a pc what is the cheapest pc you can physically build not including a montior i dont got a job anymore but fuck it it only payed 10.10 a hour the struggle is real
Feel free to ask if you need any help. I suggest you to buy new and used parts since RAM and GPU prices now are quite high.
The slot loading ones specifically weren’t reliable machines at all. Hardware issues plagued them and were mostly resolved with the top loader model of NES.
GPU prices are dropping rapidly though, I'd recommend buying everything up and waiting until mid-late August for the GPU.
You could check to see if Rigs of Rods works. I was able to get it running on an Intel Atom based tablet, so it should run fine on your device. BeamNG is the spiritual "successor" to Rigs of Rods. Both are still in development since RoR is free and Open Source. The physics aren't as good, neither are the graphics, but its still a pretty good time. Your PC may even be able to handle a Gavril (would recommend the Gavril Zeta and Gavril G2) on some of the maps. I would also recommend the Greece map, as well as the Desert trails map.
I was able to get RoR to run on a single-core Celeron 900 and a GMA 4500M. I couldn’t really do any Gabester vehicles, but the Box5 stuff ran just fine (if you call 14FPS fine). I miss those days.
Just got a Dell G5 so I can do video editing away from home So far it feels really solid. Also, a super good deal for anyone in the market for a laptop: http://www.microcenter.com/product/507458/G3_15_3579_156_Gaming_Laptop_Computer_-_Black GTX 1060 + 8th generation i5 for $750. Even if you add an SSD and possibly another 8 gb of RAM, it's a pretty good deal. The all plastic construction is a bit iffy, though.
Not to mention I was waiting since polaris for AMDs Vega, then for Navi, and now I can't be bothered and won't ever upgrade my gpu
It's a steady device, but beware for the heat issues, as slim and light gaming laptops like the G3 has poor cooling.
yeah i'd say the 1060 is adventurous, you will probably get 1050 style performance due to thermal throttling. Either that or the fans sound like a jet engine
Uhhh, no. The 1060 in that laptop massively outperforms a 1050. PERFORMANCE NOISE LEVELS TEMPS When running Furmark it thermal throttles, but as can be seen from the gaming results, its clearly no where near as bad as a 1050, or even a 1050ti for that matter.
yeah i forgot how efficient the cards are, 45w TDP is pretty amazing. (apparently that's what the TDP is..)
The Acer Nitro 5 is mine! i5-8300H, GTX 1050, 8GB of ram, 1TB spindle, $650. Am happy, have potato pic:
