After 0.12, the beamng menu (where the options are, spawning cars, customization, etc.) and the UI Apps are very slow, even without any car spawned in the least intensive maps. takes about 1 minute just to add a supercharger onto a car, any problem why this is happening?

I have noticed that too and I have been trimming back the amount of mods I have in the game and that isnt causing any effect

I have around 200+ mods (stupid, now my game is about 9gb big) and even after uninstalling all my mods (safe mode) the menu is still slow.

It's always been a problem for me :/ but 0.12 definitely made it worse.

I don't have it nearly as bad as OP(also, no mods installed), but I would agree that it has gotten worse since 0.12.
It seems to fluctuate, like if I change a lot or parts and or tuning settings it seems to get slower and slower. Then I leave it alone and drive around and it gets back to normal. If I only change a part or tune a little at a time with driving in between it seems mostly normal. But still overall slower than 0.11 was.

Although I use mods, but that kinda defeats the point if you make the game readily moddable but that makes the UI painstakingly slow

I turned off mods and it helped a little, but whats the point of playing BeamNG if you can't use mods?

Simply don't keep to many enabled.
There are people out here having 300 mods enabled. Please understand that any mod you have is X files the game has to load.
The more you have, the number of files grows exponentially and at a certain point you will start to see some slow downs.

    In short:
Keep the number of mods you have enabled reasonable..

Not really to my eyes, that's still quite some mods you have.
Just keep the mods you really use enabled, don't keep stuff enabled if you don't use it, it will just act as a paperweight.

I have around 80 mods, and when using a car like the etki my menu is insanely slow. Like really slow. I'm not sure if it is caused by the new variable system, but if it is, this absolutely needs to be fixed. The ui was very inefficient to start with and now this. Literally unplayable. Should not be acceptable on a 20€ game that has been under development for so many years. From the customer's perspective, the game is just painfully slow. This problem draws the attention and really makes me not want to play it. Luckily pigeon is fine tho, so I can continue modding.

    ...

    Two things to differentiate:
    - People who are having slow UI for whatever unknown reason
    - People who have slow UI because they use insane amount of mods enabled

First one can be due many, many different reason. From weak CPUs, to other programs messing up with the game.
I personally never had that on any of my devices (Main PC to non-gaming laptop with integrated graphics).
By 'that' I mean abnormal loading times or etc. The UI is not a flash and it's a down-side of having a very flexible UI system (literally allows you to do what you want).

    Second one is self-explanatory.
Pick a webpage and fill it with 500 images. Expect it to load slower.
That's a similar thing here. The mods you have, the more files has to be loaded, requiring more time for all the data to parsed, sent to the UI and rendered.
(ie. certain configuration mods that adds 50-configuration and alike, are obviously going to take a hit on the selector performance)

Anywaaaay, this is N-O-T being ignored.
We are working on some important changes on that front.
I cannot tell you more, but those changes are being made with what we learned about the UI in these years and feedback we received.
These are yet to be announced.

My UI used to be very slow, but I got a new CPU recently and now that there is no bottle neck, it runs perfect!
It could be mods, or what happened to me. Not enough power.

Open the UI like normal... is it laggy? If so, hit J (too pause the game physics) and try it now... more than likely it is no longer laggy and runs smooth as butter... granted you had to freeze the physics to do this, but it's something.

I have the laggy UI experience as well. I am unsure what it is being caused by as my computer is fairly good and the only thing I have running in the background is Steam (perhaps the culprit? dunno). Granted this is nothing new to me so I have just learned to live with it. I also only have 4 mods, so I don't think that is the issue here... granted I also have not had a chance to play the most recent update yet either (the one with the new bus, not the hotfix) so it might have gotten better or gotten worse... I am unsure.

Another thing that helps is limiting the UI resolution. It may be a little fuzzy but at least it's faster.

I've always found the UI to run like crap for me too, I used to have the game on a HDD (like all my games) but that wasn't good enough for BeamNG so now its on an SSD and its a little better. However its still a case of waiting 3 seconds just for a menu to appear and then another couple for the listing to pop in. Its also pretty stuttery and a nuisance to use because of that.

For myself after the 0.12 series of the updates the in game UI has become completely unusable, I've always been quite picky with mods and tended to throw out anything that was detrimental to my UI performance. (As tuning is a tremendous part of what I do in the game) As well whenever a new update arrives I immediately cleanse my game of mods for a while to avoid any conflicts and to see what will still work fully and what will need to be updated. I did the same for this update however even without any mods installed my UI is utterly unbearable to use, for me it's game breaking. I've tried all the tricks I've seen (UI res, background, etc.) to no avail. It's really put a damper on my play of the game as it bring just about everything I want to do to either an unacceptably slow crawl or all to often a complete stop. It makes me not want to play, mod, or even care about the game anymore. And while my specs of an AMD 6300 and a 1050ti are not tremendous they are absolutely not bottle necking. Something in this update has severely damaged the function of the UI.
