what's the oldest mod you have? OT. this will break the internet from all the downloads when it comes out
crane concept --- Post updated --- there needs to be a ingame vehical editor like the one in automation and stuff like that
That thing on the back is the contour of slantback, right? Anyways, nice progress. Good job Sithhy and atv_123 ! I like to check this thread from time to time. It never dissapoints
Sorry for no rear bumper on these, a bit of the mesh needs to be modified... And I'm too lazy to do that now
Have you ever tried to do a render of the vehicle? I kind of want to see one, that has the car paint and glass, and all that good stuff I mean you don't have textures though.
We all do, and I dunno about Sithhy, but I can't do textures yet to save my soul. I dunno why, but that seems to be a massive shortcoming in my current knowledge repertoire. Like... I can make them in Blender and do renders with them (might give that a shot one of these days) but actually getting them out of Blender and in game? I dunno why, but I have never been able to do that properly even ever since my RoR days. Another thing I am going to have to put on my list of things to learn (gonna soon have to make another list... this one is getting pretty long)
Well first you have to know how to UV map, and I don't know that my self. I would like to know how one day, but its not on my bucket list atm
Hey Sithhy, I'm pretty excited for this mod. I actually own a 1990 Am General Humvee. If you need any pictures or any measurements of anything specific for modeling or whatever just let me know. Its a 6.2 liter 2 man truck with soft top/doors and troop carrier seats in the back. Some parts on it will be military specific and it wont have luxury things like a plush interior, but most things like the drivetrain and body will be the same.
I am so jealous right now... If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pick yours up for? I am seriously contemplating picking one up... Also, that would have been super useful when making the suspension. I used to work on these things for a local guy that restored and sold Humvee's. So I have it all in my head, but it is difficult to find pictures sometimes to convey what I am talking about since these things are so mechanically different from most vehicles.
I love this thing, It's definitely interesting to say the least. I cant get fuel (which is often) without someone coming up to me and asking questions about. It's definitely a head turner and very fun to drive. I won the government auction at about the $8000 mark, after auction fees and taxes it came out to a little under $9000. It was sitting at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden Utah when I won. I had a local military specialty shop pick it up for me. They serviced it for me and made sure it was good to go, between parts and labor it came out to about $1500. So at this point, I'm all in at $10,500. Then I flew into Utah and drove it home! I took the truck down to Moab Utah and offroaded it for 3 days on trails like 7 Mile Rim, Jeep Wipeout Hill, Hells Revenge and Fins N Things. Then spent the next 7 days offroading and making my way through the Colorado mountains. After the mountains it was hammer down all the way home to Iowa. 1750ish miles total. We had some pretty good experiences and stayed in some really interesting places. All in all it was a pretty interesting trip, my dad and I did it to celebrate my 21st birthday. It was definitely a trip of a lifetime. It's very different than most vehicles that's for sure. We lost the waterpump on the interstate in Colorado and it was a bear to replace. I'm very mechanically incline when it comes to vehicles because of the environment I grew up in and my dad has a degree in mechanical engineering and it took us about 7 hours to replace it once we got towed to a parts store.
Yeah... they are a bit of a bear to work on if it has anything to do with reaching the engine. Everytime we got one that needed anything done to the engine, we just pulled the body off. When you have a lift, it is so much easier that way. If you didn't do that... it can be a mess to even change the most trivial of items under the hood.
