What car trends are you sad to see have faded away, and which car trends do you hate? This is probably a pretty common one, but I'm sad to see popup headlights go. Same for straight 6s and rotaries. I know they're not technically practical, but many of the cars that have lost these engines have also lost most of their magic to me. There were a few more that I can't remember right now, will probably add more later.
Agreed. I think it's mostly a result of trying to give small cars wavey lines. IMO small cars like that suit being boxy much more.
The glory German car era, where you could buy a German car second hand and not worry that some stupid unnecessary computer component will break.
Yeah, muscle cars seem to be regressing in terms of visual appearance . True that. Also, what's with engines being covered in plastic these days? What does it actually do? I want to see cam gears, rocker covers, engine blocks etc. Anyone else get what I mean?
The cool and interesting french cars when renault was making goodies like the clio williams clio V6 and the times whern interior was put together from different tyoes of leather, wood, plastic and gauges instead of screens everywhere. I do not miss any of the german crap tho
I do not really care about them, the W123 is still just some old taxi and the E30 is just another boxy German BMW nothing really that interesting for me
Trends I am sad to see go: Good visibility Simple design Build quality, reliability and longevity Big engines American cars (if you don't know, Ford is going to kill off Taurus, Fusion and Fiesta in US) Existing trends I hate: Overstyled design Crossovers Tiny windows Downsizing Disposability Abundance of computers Screens, screens, screens, did I mention screens? Driving assistants EVs
The Death of the Minitruck (in America at least) Even base model "light duty" trucks of today are comparatively huge when you look at the Tacomas, Mighty Maxes, Rangers, Hardbodies of the 80s and 90s.
Making "environment-friendly" cars, which either actually does or doesn't. One example of an "does": One example of an "doesn't" (Note that there are reasons why I listed the Prius here, like the production pollution, or lifetime energy usage.)
The Nissan Frontier which hasn't been changed since 2005 is the closest thing you can get to a no-frills work truck for a 2018 model year. The bare bones model comes with manual windows, locks and a manual transmission! This is smaller than the Tacoma and Colorado today! The Trends I hate are: The sloping roofline (BMW X6 started it in 2008) Now almost every car has it! The gigantic grilles in the front fascias of cars today (Toyota that means you!)\ Crossovers are cancer, get rid of them. (I didn't see what was wrong with regular SUV's?)
Huh, well I guess Nissan has done something right recently after all. Surprised they didn't jam a Continously-Volatile-Transmission in it too
Tesla has 12 times bigger battery, rings any bells? Poor Prius, it gets attacks from its own fans now.
