I'm very new to this whole modding scene,so sorry if I don't seem to understand much. I want to add a new turbo to the new citybus added to the game in the recent update.I just want a variable turbocharger added to the stock engine. I looked at some tutorials but is still kinda confused,I was able to port an engine from another car to the bus ,but that was it.Can anyone link me or perhaps teach me how to add turbos to an existing engine? Thank you in advance.
best way is to copy and paste the original turbochargers and change settings like the wastegate and "maxExhaustPower" settings, these can increase or decrease the power output.
How do you make it variable? And how do I make it such that it works from the mod folder? Do I have to make a duplicate engine with my extra turbo settings or how do I make a jbeam file only for the extra turbo? Sorry if this sounds stupid,I'm very new to this.Thank you
It's good practice to make a beam file with only the extra turbo, that way it won't overwrite game files (and so you will be able to post the mod on the repo). To make it variable, simply see how the devs made it variable, copy and paste the code in question, and hey presto its done. You could copy the whole turbocharger code, but make sure the slot properties are the same (you wan't to keep it the same) There should be tutorials on the WIKI, haven't checked but i think there might be something out there
Thank you so much,I have already figured out how to get a new turbo in the game, and how its variable, but it doesn't seem to add power at all. Is there a specific line to say how much power the turbo adds?
Usually waste gate needs to be increased, and the exhaust power. Set something like waste gate to 100 and exhaust power high, maybe 20000. See if something happens. You also need the turbo's psi to rpm curve. It's in like an array below the turbo code. I can't really help that well as i am away from BeamNG.drive at the moment (away from PC)
Okay sorry ,nevermind that,I just figured out I was tuning it wrong. Thank you so much for your help.
