Idle Diesel Transit "rattle" for a smiley model, wondering whether it could be blended with current samples to make it sound more rattly, or as a seperate mod, let me know what you think!

Sound Engineer here - That new idle sample sounds grand!! I'd blend it in with the hilux engine to taste, as it could do with the extra low end rattle. Do you have any experience with making custom engines/drivetrains? (I wish I did) It'd be fantastic to release the banana engine as an entire engine with accurate power curves + the sounds.

 

Hello fellow engineer . Aye, but it's from a 2.5 transit from 2002 and reeeeeeally doesn't match the more modern, 12 years more modern 3L of the sample i used for all of the rest of the truck. However, if people really want the idle as part of the blend in from idle to high rpm, I can look into doing something with it. It won't sound as "right" or as clean (for obvious reasons, resonation and pitch and waveform for starters) but if there is enough of a demand i'll try it out. Take at look at my development thread for reasons behind my current decisions , I am on the hunt for transit van owners to kindly me there engine sounds, then I can REALLY give a proper engine sample!

Engines are relatively simply as are transmissions, data wise. I assume you meant modeling them with custom parts haha that's a big nope. I'd want to capture the sound perfect first before the curves but hey, if enough people support me going forward and can even contribute sounds or $ then things can only improve . Sourcing is the big thing, if people actually own the vehicles I'm working on, or similar engines in real life then it becomes a breeze.

When I edited the engine file to add more power the engine sound went silent. I replaced the standard file with the edited file -I only changed the torque and the sound disappeared. Any way to stop this from happening because I would love to use the sound with a more powerful engine.

 

Quite offen you may of simply accidently not correctly closed some parentheses such as not adding a "," or a "]" or "]," in the right places. However if you said you replaced it with just your edits, unfortunately you need to copy the ENTIRE Jbeam file, then make changes.

Just backup my .jbeam file and edit the one i've provided directly, rather than replacing and the sound won't vanish .

 

What I did was copy your file engine jbeam into an unzipped document and then edited it. I then went back into the zipped file and pasted my edit. I double checked the parentheses and they were all fine. The sound still disappeared. I can make a video of what I do then post it on here if that can make it clear to what I did

 

Just edit my file directly inside the zips folders and it'll work fine, i've not changed anything that should remove the sound when you make it more powerful as I've just done it my self, if you let me know what sort of power you want i'll just PM you the edit if you still have no luck .

 

When I Edit the file in the zip notepad wants me to save as. and I can't reselect the zip

 

You've lost me. I use notepadd++ to be fair but i just opened it with regular notepad, changed the rpm at 5000 to have 9999 torque, click save and it's done, archive asks you to confirm updated files select yes and done. I have no idea why you're having so much trouble :S.

 

Ok after unzipping your file editing the engine then rezipping it the sound is back and better than ever. Thanks for your help

please add a turbo so it has more power, and maybe you could put that engine in the d serie pickup ?
