I think Pontiac would be a cool comeback brand as long as they went with midgrade+ quality materials and didn't just change lights and cladding like they did in the end. They could make a Camaro based Firebird or TA, an Impala based Bonneville with sportier characteristics, a Cruze based hatch and sedan but sport oriented (think Focus ST, VW GTI line, Civic R, etc). After all, pretty much every company is going for a sporty feel and much higher quality than before, and I think the sports niche is making a big comeback.
It would be nice to see Nissan and Mitsubishi do a joint venture and bring back the Nissan Silvia, maybe they can go down the retro route and design it after the Galant GTO.
That'd be an interesting idea, and it would also be something to stand out of the current unoriginal Mitsubishi line-up, with the exception of the L200 and the last of the Lancer Evolution.
I mean, if your line-up is made up mostly of SUVs and crossovers, it will be too boring. Atleast the old days of Mitsubishi were full of variety.
It's what they are good at, What do you expect from a company that has won the Dakar rally 12 times?!
You sure that was all they were good at? They nailed it with the Lancer Evolution... until they killed that car off. Plus, the Eclipse was decent, and such other old cars like the Galant, or Colt. Here's another Japanese car that needs an comeback: C'mon! It's one strange, but solid as hell Toyota. Sure, the doors aren't the best, but other than that, it's an really good Toyota.
Bring back the Plymouth Barracuda, or a real Dodge Dart on a rwd platform. Midsize/3300lbs or less with v6 and v8 options. Chrysler needs something that can handle turns. DOn't get me wrong, these new heavy cars handle well for their weight, but imagine if they dropped 1,000 lbs. Probably won't see it because of all the safety and features every new car owner apparently needs or wants these days, but I would love to see that come back. I really don't think we need an Imperial, the 300 is luxury and powerful enough to be comparable. Plus it weighs about 5k lbs last I checked which isn't far off of the 60's Imperials that were closer to 3 tons. Much more similar in weight to the mid 70s Imperial that was really just a Dodge Monaco/Chrysler Newport which weigh in at around 4,500 lbs which is comparable to a Charger/Challenger of modern day.
Speaking of the Sera... The Tercel. It's an civilian hidden gem, it was actually above-average for some years, and that should be something Toyota should be proud of.
Восьмерка была лучшей на свете в 90-ых но сейчас русский таз-радует глаз))))) Translation:2108 was world's best in 90s but today they are crap)))))
The 3 that I can think of off the top of my head right now... Saturn Vue V6 - I learned to drive on a 2005 FWD Vue V6 and it was a surprisingly snappy SUV. Fun to drive, and got decent fuel economy too. Honda S2000 with F20C engine - An engine that revs to 9000 RPM, and produces about 240 HP without a turbo is just awesome. These things looks great stock too. Honda Del Sol - The style on these were really unique and they look like a lot of fun to drive too.
